Aside from this, it seems like another “Firefly” reunion will be happening, as a former cast member of the show, which also starred Nathan Fillion, and who just so happens to have appeared before on “Castle,” will be returning to the twelfth precinct this fall. WARNING: This article contains spoilers regarding Hayley Shipton’s character and her purpose in the “Castle” mythos, as well as for who will be returning to “Castle” for a mini “Firefly” reunion with Nathan Fillion. Read on only to learn more about this story.

Earlier, Movie News Guide (MNG) reported that the upcoming eighth season will allow for Alexis Castle’s (Molly C. Quinn) to grow and develop a little bit more into an adult. One of the steps that they took was to give Alexis a brand new, and more professional looking haircut.

Aside from this, according to Entertainment Weekly, Toks Olagundoye’s Hayley Shipton, will also be serving as a “mentor” and as an older sister figure to Alexis. It was since, according to showrunner Alexi Hawley, this upcoming season will focus a lot on Alexis coming into her own as an adult.

We have seen Alexis grow throughout the seasons, from a high school student to a college student. Now, it’s time for viewers to see the natural progression of her character into a full-fledged adult. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), her new stepmother, will also play a big role in this, but the showrunners are giving Alexis another strong female in the person of Hayley, to look up to.

Hawley also gave Entertainment Weekly a little sneak peek as to the upcoming dynamic that will be happening between Fillion’s Richard Castle and Hayley.

According to Hawley, Hayley will be a “fun and dynamic character,” who doesn’t always play by the rules that Castle and company play by.

The site also debuted a first look picture of Hayley. She was dressed in a hoodie, and was looking back at a figure in the room that is most probably Castle.

Aside from this, it has just been announced on Entertainment Weekly that Adam Baldwin, Fillion’s castmate in the cult favorite Joss Whedon show “Firefly”, will be back as New York Gang Unit Detective Ethan Slaughter. He previously appeared in the fourth season, in an episode entitled “Headhunters.”

Based on their last encounter, Castle didn’t seem to be very comfortable with Slaughter, whose unorthodox and rough methods made Castle nervous while he was partnered with him.

Baldwin’s Slaughter will be appearing sometime in the early parts of the eighth season.
