Our lives and the universe are full of possibilities and potentialities, and a simple decision that one person makes can affect and change everything in one’s life, and can even effect the far and distant future. The classic question of ‘what if?’ has plagued humanity for ages, and has kept us wondering as to what kind of life one would have had if they made a different decision. This question not only plagues humankind, but it also plagues fictional characters as well. And in the seventh season of the hit television show “Castle”, the ‘what if’ question will be raised in one particular episode. Read on to learn more about this intriguing new episode in “Castle’s” seventh season.
It is well known that the first few episodes of the upcoming season of “Castle” will not be so lighthearted as its usual fare, as it will be tackling the shocking disappearance of Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) from his burning car, which figured in a car accident while he was on his way to his and Detective Kate Beckett’s (Stana Katic) wedding.
According to TV Line, in order to break the ice, and to return to the usual lighthearted, ‘mystery of the week’ fare, the seventh season’s sixth episode will tackle the famous “what if”- question in this form: “What if Rick and Kate had never met?” and it will be set in an alternate universe.
“Castle” star Jon Huertas (Detective Javier Esposito) told TV Line that so far, this is his favorite episode so far in the season. He also went on to say that the alternate reality episode will feature all the “Castle” cast existing in a totally different way from what and where they are now.
This is not the first time that television shows have posed this intriguing question to their characters and shows, and the end results are amusing, interesting, and surprisingly reveal a little something about the major characters themselves.
Prime examples of popular television shows that have tackled this question include the hit British television show, “Doctor Who”, in the episode entitled “Turn Left”. That episode featured an alternate reality in which the Tenth Doctor’s (David Tennant) companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) had never met the Doctor, and it was a reality in which the Doctor had ultimately died. Another example of this would be “The Big Bang Theory”, which featured a reality in which Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) did not exist. Other hit television shows that have tackled this question include “Star Trek”, “Friends”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, and “Grey’s Anatomy”.
And that’s the latest update on what will happen in one of the episodes on the seventh season of “Castle”. For more news, updates and recaps on “Castle” and other television shows, keep on following Movie News Guide (MNG).
