‘Castle’ Updates and Spoilers: A New Addition, A Removal, and the Return of Detective Slaughter

The eighth season of ABC’s “Castle”, so far, has brought about a lot of controversy, especially with the choices, creatively, that the new showrunners, Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter have taken, in order to give “Castle” that new dynamic and that spark that they feel has been missing for quite a while.

Their decision, for better or for worse, has created a split between the fans of the show, as some of them were dissatisfied with how the story line is progressing, especially for Nathan Fillion’s Richard Castle and Stana Katic’s Captain Kate Beckett. However, putting all that aside, it has just been announced that the “Castle” family will have a new addition to the team, and that this season will also feature another character, while another familiar face might not be around that much anymore. WARNING: This article will contain spoilers for “Castle” Season 8. Read on to learn more about the new addition to the team, the returning face, and who among the team fans of the show will not be seeing more of anymore.

“Castle”, for better or for worse, regardless of whether fans agreed or disagreed with the new showrunners’ decision to separate Nathan Fillion’s Richard Castle and Stana Katic’s Captain Kate Beckett, the show is sticking to its guns, and moving forward with these things in mind.

Along for the ride with these major changes is newcomer Vikram Singh (Sunkrish Bala), an analyst for the Attorney General’s office who is now part of the twelfth precinct as their Digital Investigator, which will give him a reason to still stick close to Kate, as the pair are still digging into why and who had been after them in the first two episodes of the season.

Howver, according to TV Line, this means that everyone’s favorite Digital Investigator, Tory Ellis (Maya Stojan) will not really be seen that much anymore, as the showrunners have stated that the inclusion of Vikram’s character was more important, since he is connected to the LOCKSAT mystery.

However, it seems that Vikram isn’t the only newcomer to grace the walls of the twelfth precinct, as TV Line has just learned that “Backstrom’s” and “Life Unexpected’s” Kristoffer Polaha will be joining the cast as public defender Caleb Brown, a recurring character who will not see eye to eye with the twelfth precinct and Captain Kate Beckett, given the fact that most of his clients are criminals.

The article also stated that Caleb’s character will be serving as a “foil” to Kate.

In other news, showrunners Hawley and Winter, in talking to Entertainment Weekly’s Spoiler Room, teased that the episode featuring the return of Adam Baldwin’s Detective Slaughter will be one to look forward to, as they have tried their best to give something new to the fans and viewers. They also went on to say that the episode will be interesting, especially for long-time fans and viewers, as a little bit more about Slaughter will be learned in this episode.

Are you looking forward to Adam Baldwin’s return? What do you think of Kristoffer Polaha’s role in “Castle”? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
