CBS’ “The Odd Couple” is going to get a good boost when it premieres on the network on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. The show will be sandwiched between the top-rating comedy series “Big Bang Theory” and the one-hour series finale of “Two and a Half Men.” Read on for more on this news.
As reported on Deadline, the reboot of “The Odd Couple” starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon will be launched between two of the networks most watched comedy series. Having “Big Bang Theory” (BBT) as its lead-in will be a huge advantage for the new show, as it will benefit from its large audience, while going before the one-hour series special of “Two and a Half Men” should also boost its viewership. The latter will be ending after twelve seasons.
Then the following Thursday, Feb. 26, “The Odd Couple” will still benefit from a “Big Bang Theory” lead-in, as well as a follow up, as CBS will be airing repeats of BBT after the Perry comedy. This strategy has experts predicting a sure win for “The Odd Couple” in the ratings game.
In line with this new schedule, CBS is moving its other comedy, “Mom” in the 9:30 p.m. slot. It originally occupies the slot “The Odd Couple” will be taking over.
“The Odd Couple” features Perry as Oscar Madison and Lennon as Felix Unger. The two are polar opposites as one is a boorish slob, while the other is an uptight neat freak. The show also stars Yvette Nicole Brown, Wendell Pierce and Lindsay Sloane. The series is created by Perry and Joe Keenan, who also serve as Executive Producers along with Carl Beverly, Kim Tannenbaum and Sarah Timberman.
