Greg Berlanti has a lot going on these days. CBS has just ordered DC Comics “Supergirl” to series.

The TV series has gone through some bumps before it was pushed thru. It was supposed to be on The CW but the network considered it to be too expensive. Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment chairman took on the series after seeing the final cut and she loved it.

“Supergirl” will start Melissa Benoist (“Glee,” “Whiplash”) as Kara Zor-El, she was born on Krypton but has been concealing her powers ever since she arrived on Earth. However, when she turned 24 she decided to embrace her powers and be the hero that she is destined to be. Oh and she’s Superman’s cousin.

Joining Benoist are Mehcad Brooks who will play James “Jimmy” Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers.

Also in mystery roles that have just been recently cast we have Helen Slater and Dean Cain. Guest stars Jeremy Jordan who will plan Winslow “Winn” Schott”, Faran Tahis as The Commander and Owain Yeoman as Vartox will be featured in the pilot.

The schedule for the upcoming TV series has yet to be decided because the show’s lineup doesn’t really pair well with it. There have been suggestions that it gets at slot on Sundays, along with other sci-fi TV series such as “Zoo,” “Extant” and “Under the Dome.”

“Supergirl” is the latest comic book show joining DC’s “Flash,” “Arrow, “Gotham” and “iZombie.”

Here is “Supergirl’s” costume:
