The year 2014 has come and go. Along with it, it took some of Hollywood’s much-loved actors and actresses who will always fill a gap in our hearts. Here are some of the celebrities the world lost in 2014.

Philip Seymour Hoffman (Feb. 2, 2014)

After overdosing on heroin in his NYC apartment, Philip Seymour Hoffman was discovered lifeless in his bathroom. The Oscar winner and father of three had been dealing with his struggle in overcoming his addiction. He last tried to fight his addiction when he went to rehab in May 2013. 

Shirley Temple-Black (Feb. 10, 2014)

For anyone who thinks of child actors, Shirley Temple’s name is the first that comes to mind. With her curls and remarkable acting, there’s no surprise why Temple has made a name for herself in an industry that loved her dearly. This is why the world mourned when the 85-year-old actress, diplomat and great-grandmother passed away in her home as she was surrounded by her family.

Ann B. Davis (June 1, 2014) 

Ann B. Davis was best known for her character as Alice, the housekeeper of “The Brady Bunch.” She also won an Emmy for her portrayal as Schultzy on “The Bob Cummings Show.” This is why she will always be remembered for her talent even after she died at the age of 88.

Robin Williams (Aug. 11, 2014)

The death of comedian Robin Williams was a shock to everyone throughout the world. When discovered that the death was caused by a suicide, Williams’ family, friends, co-stars and fans did not take too long to mourn the comedic legend’s untimely death. He died at the age of 63.

Joan Rivers (Sept. 4, 2014)

Another great comedienne who died in 2014 was Joan Rivers. The spunky television personality died from complications following a throat procedure that suffered from. Rivers, who died at 81 years old, requested for an unusual service — with Howard Stern making the crowd laugh and Hugh Jackman singing a tribute on stage. 

Edward Herrmann (Dec. 31, 2014)

Just before the year ended, the much-loved grandfather from “Gilmore Girls,” Edward Herrmann succumbed to death after battling with brain cancer. He died at the age of 71.
