After 11 years of marriage and a beautiful six-year-old daughter with her husband, celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis has posted over at Facebook of her divorce from fashion designer Todd Thompson. Read on for further details.
On Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, De Laurentiis posted on her Facebook page and later also on her official website a statement on her divorce from Thompson. Though the statement hasn’t clearly stated in detail if the couple have already filed for divorce or when, it mentioned of their separation being a joint decision, though it was not an easy one given all the years that they have been together.
After an amicable separation since July, Todd and I have decided to end our marriage. Although our decision to separate comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus on the future and overwhelming desire for our family's happiness has given us the strength to move forward on separate, yet always connected paths. Todd and I share a beautiful daughter and a lifetime of great memories that we both treasure more than anything. We are so thankful for our friends and family, and really appreciate the support in this time of change.
Fans have poured their comments for De Laurentiis in support for her and her family during this crucial time. Some have even taken to Twitter to post comments on her page and give their support.
De Laurentiis met Thompson when she was just 19. They were married on May 25, 2003. Their only daughter, Jade Marie De Laurentiis-Thompson, was born five years later on March 29.
As a celebrity chef, De Laurentiis won the Daytime Emmy Award for her hosting the Food Network program and also became a Culinary Hall of Famer. She also owns a restaurant and has founded a catering business called GDL Foods. In addition to this, she is a well-accepted guest on many talk shows.
