It sounds like Channing Tatum wanted to break free from the usual “save the world” task in his upcoming movie, “Gambit.” Over the years, we have seen the “X-Men” characters work together to tackle world threats that humanity has been confronted but this time around the “Magic Mike” star is on his own.
Channing Tatum seems to want something different for his upcoming solo shot for “Gambit”, according to a report from CinemaBlend. The new movie taken from the X-Men characters is expected to premiere in 2016. This leaves us wondering if the upcoming movie would have a different take from the origin one.
Empire Magazine conducted an interview with Channing Tatum where he said that his role in Gambit, Remy LeBeay, may require having a character that is unique in its own way. Tatum revealed during the interview that he and the others were not sure if they will deal with the X-Men world. However, he added while laughing that the movie (as usual) would be about saving the world. Furthermore, Channing said that there are numerous ways to take an origin story like doing it the “Batmen Begins” way or taking a different route like “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Channing Tatum also revealed that he is super excited for the upcoming “Gambit” film.
Although we think that Channing’s explanation about the details of the movie is quite vague, we can already see what the project will be like. Gambit is also like the other X-Men players who did solo film features. The character tends to go along and doing things his own way. Gambit’s character is essentially good who walked the line from being a scoundrel to becoming a hero. He was once a thief with a golden heart which got us thinking that any film involving his character would have a more personal appeal compared to other X-Men solo films.
As for Channing Tatum, we do think that he feels giving the character a generic role of saving the world would not give it justice. The actor grew up in New Orleans making him know the area intimately. By this we can say that his portrayal of the Gambit character would resonate heavily.
