It must have been only a few weeks back that everyone was excited about the “Gambit” solo venture being realized into reality. Channing Tatum, who was really excited to see the project come true, had a director who shared his vision and was equally passionate about it. Rupert Wyatt had lots planned but it seems he will have to deal with something alarming at the moment.
According to Cinema Blend, Tatum has reportedly left the “Gambit” franchise as the movie is left without a male lead. Not much is known as to why the actor would leave all of a sudden since everything right from choosing the director for the movie had his opinion being considered.
There’s no way that a fall out between him and the director could result in him leaving the project. However, it is being reported that it was maybe because of Twentieth Century Fox’s vision about the film that led him to part ways with them.
Even with Tatum leaving the project, it does not seem 20th Century Fox will be slowing down the planning concerning the film as they are very much dedicated to expanding the “X-Men” Universe. If the report is true then Wyatt will have to start looking for a new male lead who could replace “Magic Mike” star.
Simultaneously with him leaving, the outlet also being reported that producers are eyeing a rising star to take on the female lead for the movie. French actress Lea Seydoux is being considered for the part.
Seydoux, who has starred in movies like “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” and will also be seen in the upcoming 24th Bond installment “Spectre,” might be playing the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux. He was arranged to be married to Gambit (Remy LeBeau). With the description that is going around with respect to the casting, she perfectly fits the bill. However it remains to be seen if she will come aboard the project.
“Gambit” will hit the theaters on Oct. 7, 2016.
