“Chicago Fire” Season 4 Episode 8 “When Tortoises Fly” aired last Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. on NBC. In this episode, as things got worse for Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), he realized that the one behind everything was Roger Maddox (Mark Hengst). Meanwhile, Jessica “Chili” Chilton (Dora Madison) was called out for being late and the team rescued a pet tortoise from an abandoned RV and handled a peeping tom situation. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with Donna Robbins (Melissa Ponzio) confronting Serena Holmes (Ilfenesh Hadera), who ignored her and drove off with a man.

The next morning, Gabriela “Gabby” Dawson (Monica Raymund) blamed herself that Chief Ray Riddle (Fredric Lehne) was a little bit shaken up as Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) had confronted him during the gala due to her conspiracy theory.

They then responded to a call, with Jessica “Chili” Chilton (Dora Madison) arriving just as Sylvie Brett (Kara Kilmer) was about to leave without her.

Throughout the day, Firefighter Candidate Jimmy Borelli (Steven R. McQueen) tried to talk to her. It was especially after Boden chewed her out for being late for her shift, but she reassured him that everything was fine. After he visited her in her apartment, she quickly terminated the conversation by pulling him into her bedroom.

Meanwhile, the entire house managed to save a man, Austin (Leigh Foster), who had bumped into a seemingly abandoned RV just as a police officer was going to have it towed to the impound lot. He had bumped into it while changing the radio station.

They managed to get him out just in time, and Firefighter Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) rescued a tortoise from the RV, which they later grew fond of, and named it Leonardo.

At the firehouse, Captain Dallas Patterson (Brian White) pulled Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) aside and told him to lay some ground rules for Freddie Clemente’s (Ralph Rodriguez) visits to the firehouse.

Assistant State’s Attorney Steve Cott showed then showed up at Boden’s office. He told him to clear up the accusations against him as he needed Boden to be one of the witnesses to testify against Roger Maddox (Mark Hengst) as he had torched a building which Firehouse 51 had responded to.

Because of this, Boden realized that all of his misery had been caused by Maddox.

Things then became worse after he discovered that Detective Wheeler (Tom Amandes) had obtained a search warrant for his house after Serena went missing.

Back in his office, after talking to Gabby, Patterson, Lieutenant Matthew “Matt” Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), they each tried to help out in their own way.

Gabby reached out to her brother, Patterson told Boden that he would try to get the Fire Department to back him up, and Severide decided to reach out to Jamie Killian (Rachel Nichols).

Severide managed to talk to her, but as Maddox was her client, she refused to divulge any information. However, Severide noticed that she reacted when he mentioned Serena’s name.

Meanwhile, due to the fact that Donna was also having a tough time due to the situation, Boden confronted Maddox, which wasn’t a good move at all. Because of this, Antonio told Boden to lay low and not to make things worse for himself.

Patterson also offered to hold down the fort for Boden if ever he wanted to take a leave for a while, which made Boden realize that Patterson was playing both sides, and warned him that he would have to pick a side someday.

Sylvie was then visited by Austin, who gave her some flowers and offered to buy her lunch, much to Otis’ (Yuri Sardarov) annoyance.

Chili and Sylvie then rescued a diabetic man who turned out to be the owner of the RV. His wife and son then came over, thanked them, and retrieved their pet tortoise, who was actually named Donatello.

They then were called in to help retrieve a peeping tom who was caught in the air ducts, and who Severide managed to capture by tackling him as he ran away, which landed him a spot in the local paper.

At Molly’s, Patterson suggested to Severide that now was the best time to have his rank reassessed. Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) informed the gang that the man that Sylvie and Chili had rescued had regained consciousness.

The festivities at Molly’s was then suddenly put to a halt after Wheeler came in and arrested Boden.

Do you think Maddox is behind everything? Do you think that it was wise for Severide to talk to Jamie? What did you think about the tortoise? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
