After surviving almost four years of “Chicago Fire”, fans of the NBC show still get surprised by the curveballs and the cliffhangers that the showrunners and writers throw at the audience. The same was true for the winter finale of the show’s fourth season, leaving fans to eagerly await the return of the show in January, during the first “Chicago” crossover of the season. WARNING: This article will contain spoilers for the “Chicago” crossover event, and for “Chicago Fire” Season 4 Episode 10 “The Beating Heart”.
Fans and viewers alike were shocked to the core after everyone’s favorite fireman, Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), was stabbed in the gut by Freddie Clemente (Ralph Rodriguez), a family friend of Joe Cruz’s (Joe Minoso), whom they hired to work at Molly’s. Sure, Freddie’s situation was a little bit unique, given that he was trying to get out of the gangster life, but this time around, it seems as if Firehouse 51 and the owners of Molly’s were a little bit too hasty in hiring the troubled teenager.
Thanks to this, Herrmann was left bleeding on the floor of his own stockroom, while the others, oblivious to what had just happened, celebrated the small little victories that Firehouse 51 deserved.
It seems, though, that the “Chicago” crossover event will be picking up from where “Chicago Fire” left off, as the event will start with a new episode of “Chicago Fire”.
According to the exclusive sneak peek that was released on Spoiler TV, Gabriela “Gabby” Dawson (Monica Raymund) accompanied Herrmann to Chicago Med, where they were greeted by Nurse April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) and Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell).
April then promised to take good care of him, and while they began to prepare him for surgery, Gabby ordered Herrmann to “hang in there”.
However, this is only one third of the action during the episode as the press release shared on Spoiler TV also stated that Cruz will be working with the Intelligence Unit of Chicago PD in order to track down Freddie; while Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) will be handling a patient whose attempt to commit suicide seems a little bit fishy.
Elsewhere in the episode, Mouch (Christian Stolte) will be arranging a surprise for his girlfriend, Sergeant Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) and Jimmy Borelli (Steven R. McQueen) and Sylvie Brett (Kara Kilmer) will become a little bit more worried about Jessica “Chili” Chilton (Dora Madison).

Given the fact that Mouch recently asked Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) for some help to find out what Platt’s ring size was, it is a very high possibility that he will be proposing to her during the January 5 episode.
