In this episode, Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) found himself in a tough situation after helping Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Natalie “Nat” Manning (Torey de Vitto) help a teenaged girl and the baby that she had just delivered and abandoned. Meanwhile, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) got a hypochondriac who suddenly took a turn for the worse, and Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) and Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) handled an elderly woman whose condition had been misdiagnosed. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) responding to a cry of help from a man who had found a fourteen-year-old teenage girl passed out on the sidewalk.

After bringing her in, and while treating her, he, Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Natalie “Nat” Manning (Torey de Vitto) realized that she was bleeding as she had just delivered a baby.

This caused Rhodes and Nurse April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) to run towards where the man had picked her up, only to find her baby barely alive inside the backpack.

They were able to save the baby, and later, while they took a break, he made it clear that he didn’t like what the girl had done. Natalie though, defended the girl, Erika Dougherty (Aislinn DeButch), saying that the fourteen-year-old girl was probably just scared.

Things became more complicated, though, after Ethan tried to help Erika deliver the placenta forcibly, as it caused her to almost get a hysterectomy.

Rhodes then told him off, as Ethan should have waited for an obstetrician to do the procedure.

Later, Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) tried to get Ethan to talk to him about it, but to no avail.

Natalie then found herself getting too invested in Erika’s case. It was after discovering that there was a possibility that Erika could go to jail, and couldn’t believe that Erika’s sister was going to abandon her.

Meanwhile, Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) and Charles handled an elderly woman named Carol Donovan (Caroline Lagerfelt), whom they later realized didn’t have dementia, but had some water in her brain.

With her husband’s permission, they performed a procedure that allowed the pressure in her brain to go down and allowed her to be herself again, if only for a little while.

Reese then managed to find the song that the husband, Tom Donovan (Larry Pine), said that they first danced too, and she let the couple dance in piece inside Carol’s room.

Meanwhile, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) not only managed to get a date with a new pharmaceutical company sales representative but got a hypochondriac named Dough (Thomas Kelly), who complained of chest pains, as a patient.

After discovering that initial scans were alright, he decided to discharge him, only to discover that Dough had been driven back to the Emergency Room as he was going into cardiac arrest.

Refusing to give up on Doug, he got the last tank of nitric oxide in order to stabilize Doug, but in the process, annoyed Natalie, who needed the tank for the baby they had just rescued as his right lung had collapsed.

The baby managed to survive, but Doug, who had coded for twenty minutes, was now in worse shape than before. This caused Will to cancel his date, as he spent the night looking over Doug’s scans to see what he had missed.

After discovering that the police were going to talk to Erika, Ethan told her to tell the police that she knew that the hospital was just blocked away and that she had wanted the baby to live. However, this scared Erika, and she ended up running away.

As Charles left the hospital, Ethan asked Charles whether they had found the girl, and told him that strangely enough, he didn’t feel as bad as he thought he would be feeling  by telling her that the police were coming for her.

Later that night, Rhodes got a visit from his businessman father, whom he had no intention of reconciling with; and Natalie managed to attend her surprise baby shower at Molly’s, surrounded by family and friends.

Back at the hospital, Ethan and Rhodes watched the now orphaned baby of Erika in the nursery.
