One of Sergeant Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) detectives will be gaining a new brother, who is a doctor. He will appear not only on “Chicago PD” but also on “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med,” if the spin-off finds its way to NBC. Read on for further details.

According to TV Line and Spoiler TV, actor Nick Gehlfuss will guest star in “Chicago” shows as he will be portraying Detective Jay Halstead’s (Jesse Lee Soffer) brother, Doctor Ryan Halstead. He will be a recurring character for the rest of “Chicago PD’s” season.

According to “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Fire” showrunner Matt Olmstead, Ryan is successful but a little bit of playboy. He is described as a carefree guy who doesn’t stick around when things get complicated.

Regarding his presence in Jay’s life once again, the brothers will be happy to see each other again. Since Ryan is thinking of settling down for good in Chicago, he will be needing some help from his brother to iron some things out, which will be challenging for him given his personality.

Ryan will also appear in “Chicago Fire” as part of the backdoor pilot for a potential new series, “Chicago Med.”

Gehlfuss has also appeared in various other television shows, such as “Shameless” as Robbi Pratt, “Longmire” as Cameron Maddox, “The Newsroom” as Ross Kessler, and “Murder in the First” as Mark Strauss.
