Chicago PD” Season 2 Episode 23 “Born Into Bad News” aired last Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. In this episode, the Intelligence Unit helped out a retired commander’s nephew, who had just been placed in a unit of corrupt cops in the Narcotics Division. However, things quickly went south for Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), who was continuing to spiral down as she was still grieving over the death of her friend. Meanwhile, it wasn’t all bad news, as two others got some surprising and welcome news while Detective Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas) discovered something that he didn’t expect. Read on to learn more about this episode.

Commander Perry (Robert Ray Wisdom) asked Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) to help his nephew, Carter Perry (Joseph Anderson), out. He had gotten assigned to a unit of corrupt cops in the Narcotics Department at the Jackson Park Police Department.

The next day, Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), who had come in late, during Voight’s briefing, reassured Voight that he could count on her. She then was instructed to go to Carter and his unit, who were at a burger joint. She told their leader, Sergeant Dave Roland, that Voight wanted to talk to him, because he had been ripping off drug dealers that they busted.

Back at the precinct, Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) was in a good mood. His Union Representative just told him that he had been cleared by Internal Affairs, which meant that he would be going back to Intelligence soon. Sergeant Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) then told Detective Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas) that a woman named Linda Sovana (Jamie Anne Allman), kept on calling and kept on leaving messages for him.

Voight and Lindsay then met up with Roland and his men. They told them to hit a cartel stash house with around $ 200,000 and with around 10 kilos of drugs.

While they geared up, Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) asked Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) if he was willing to invest with him in a boxing gym that he was trying to save. Antonio then told him that Officer Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) was also chipping in. Later, he revealed that they still didn’t have enough to save the gym. He wanted to save because going that gym had saved his life and had helped him realize that he wanted to be a police officer as he had gotten introduced to the police youth boxing league from there.

During the raid, things were going well until Roland took the young daughter of the dealer hostage. Lindsay then shot Roland in the leg, which was the cue  for the others to enter. This made Roland realize that Carter had told on them. While being locked up, he told Voight to ask Carter about a particular address. However, Carter told Voight that he had told them everything.

Afterward, Alvin met up with Linda, a woman that he had a relationship with while he was working undercover.

Later, Voight instructed Lindsay to take a urine test at Internal Affairs so that they could get her and Carter’s statements. It would guarantee that Roland and his unit would get locked up for good, as they had been allowed to get off scot-free.

While she was out, Lindsay’s mother, Bunnie (Markie Post) came by to give Lindsay a framed picture of her and Nadia DeCotis (Stella Maeve). They all thought was in bad taste as they were still mourning Nadia’s death. Voight then had Antonio escort her out.

Later that night, while the commander called Voight to tell him that Carter didn’t want to give a statement, he and Carter were shot by the crew of a drug dealer whom Roland’s unit had ripped off. Carter then revealed that their raid of that particular drug dealer was the only time he had taken money.

Jay then asked Lindsay if she was okay, but she just brushed him off. After Voight called her into his office, Lindsay admitted that she would have failed the test. She ended up sounding like her mother, which caused Voight to suspend her until she was alright again.

Later that night, they raided the club of the drug dealer that Carter had ripped off, and learned that Roland had hired them to kill Carter and Lindsay. However, thankfully, Atwater and Roman were able to get to Lindsay’s just in time.

The next day, Atwater was bumped back upstairs, which meant that Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) would be going back to patrol with Roman. However, upon opening her locker, she discovered an engagement ring from Officer Adam Ruzek (John Patrick Flueger), whom she said yes to.

Meanwhile, Olinsky’s daughter, Michelle Sovana (Madison McLaughlin), who was in juvenile hall, reached out to him. Lindsay gave up her badge to Voight after she refused to leave her mother’s bar.
