“Chicago PD” Season 2 Episode 14 “Erin’s Mom” aired last Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at 10:00 PM. In this episode, after Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) and Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) staked out a shady customer of the rental moving truck company that Lindsay’s mother Bunny (Markie Post) informed on, the entire Intelligence Unit quickly found themselves dealing with two criminals who were more than they bargained for. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode picked up from where the last episode had left off. After Bunny (Markie Post) came to her daughter, Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), about a shady customer of their rental moving truck company who had left behind a bloody glove, Lindsay and Bunny presented the evidence, along with the fact that the customer’s real name was Nick Vosh, a career criminal and a thief, Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) allowed Lindsay and Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) to check it out. Before leaving, Lindsay asked Nadia (Stella Maeve) to man Officer Kevin Atwater’s (LaRoyce Hawkins) desk for the time being as he was currently on furlough. It turned out that she was studying again and had brought over her heavy criminal law books so that she could study after work at the library. After Lindsay and Jay had left, Voight questioned Bunny if she was using this to get back into Lindsay’s life but reassured him that it wasn’t.

While staking out Nick Vosh, Lindsay and Jay confirmed with each other that they were not going to tell Voight about their relationship as dating within the unit was forbidden. However, their conversation was cut short after they saw Nick hold a woman hostage and brought her inside the Check Exchange. They then blocked the other only exit with their car and put in a can of tear gas to smoke him out. As they came out, they shot Nick and brought the woman, the manager of the check exchange named Sarah Normark to safety. However, she told them that he had kidnapped her son and her husband and was holding them somewhere. Officer Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) and Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) checked out the Normark residence but discovered that the son and the husband weren’t there.

Back at the precinct, Detective Gina Granasky (Angelique Cabral), who used to work in the Vice Unit with Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), came to fill them in on Nick and his partner, as they had been working the case for some time. It turned out that they had hit several check exchanges in the past few months and that Nick had a partner who would kidnap the manager’s family in order to force them to do their will. They usually kept the hostages in a box truck, and his partner, whose name they didn’t know, was the more violent one. She also informed them that there was a reward out for $25,000 for their capture. Afterwards, she talked to Antonio and revealed that she had also recently gotten divorced and invited him for some drinks after the case was over.

Meanwhile, Lindsay confronted her mother about her knowledge about the reward money, as she had a feeling that that was the reason she had come forward, but Bunny denied knowing about the reward.

Afterwards, the entire team headed towards Burgess and Roman’s location, as they informed them that the truck holding the son and the husband had been seen in that area but had vanished. Unfortunately, Detective Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas) and Officer Adam Ruzek (John Patrick Flueger) discovered that the truck had been dumped in the river. After the fire department retrieved the truck, they discovered that the two had drowned and died. Because of this, Olinsky was able to guide Ruzek through his first notification. Sarah was distraught, and to comfort her, Olinsky informed her that they would make sure to capture the men who were responsible and told her that there were just some men that didn’t deserve to be on earth.

Because of this, an angered Voight and Lindsay dragged out Nick from the hospital and dumped him out on the ice. Voight then stepped on his face until he revealed that his partner’s name was Jared Meeko and that he had a dye pack stain on his face. After learning the motel that Meeko stayed at, they staked it out and arrested him, but not after Antonio got a little beaten up by Meeko.

In the interrogation room, they discovered that Bunny had known a little bit as to what they were up to and had come to the police after Nick refused to pay triple the price that they asked for. Lindsay then confronted her mother, who said that she didn’t know what they had been up to. While Lindsay talked to her mother, Voight discovered from her new husband, Johnny, that Bunny was going to use the reward money in order to pay off her debt with someone dangerous to whom she owed a lot of money too.

Burgess and Roman were surprised when they got back to the precinct, as there were a lot of people there due to a fire that had happened at the train station. After they went to holding to get Jared Meeko in order to transfer him to the central detention, they realized that he had managed to escape, which would not look good at all on Voight and Platt’s records. They then instructed every officer and patrolman in order to recapture Jared Meeko.

Burgess and Roman discovered from a taxi driver that Jared had beat up that he was headed to a particular street, which was where Nick’s father apartment was, as he had hidden his half of the money there. There, they discovered that Nick’s father had been beaten up and that Meeko had made off with the money.  After a chase and a shoot out, they managed to recapture Meeko and were able to recover Nick’s cash. However, at the steps of the precinct, Sarah Normark came and shot him point blank, as she had been inspired by what Olinsky had said that there were some men who did not deserve to live.

Afterwards, Lindsay informed her mother that she would not be able to collect the reward money due to the fact that the check exchanges companies believed that she was complicit in the robberies.

Later, after Nadia tried to comfort Platt, she decided to give Nadia a ride to the library. Meanwhile, Antonio and Gina went out on a date and ended up sleeping with each other.

Later that night, Voight told Lindsay and Jay to check out another case so that he could talk to Bunny alone. Afterwards, he went over to Tommy O’Neil, to whom she owed money, and gave him a portion of what she owed and made him promise that he wasn’t ever touch Bunny or her husband ever again. Outside, Bunny was grateful but then became resentful as Voight told her never to reach out to Lindsay again. Afterwards, Lindsay, who had secretly followed Voight, called him up and thanked him for helping her mother out.
