“Chicago PD” Season 2, Episode 16, “What Puts You on that Ledge” aired last Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at 10:00 PM. In this episode, Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) went undercover once again in order to determine what had happened to a missing police officer named Rick Manning. Meanwhile, Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) brought in a friend, Mouse (Samuel Caleb Hunt) in order to run the technological part of the unit, and he and Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) realized that Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) knew that they were seeing each other. Meanwhile, in the process of trying to evict an overstaying tenant in an apartment that was rented out on Air B n’ B, Officer Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) and Officer Marina Squerciati (Kim Burgess) enlisted the help of Firehouse 51’s Mouch (Christian Stolte) who discovered that there was a good reason why the tenant, Mr. Freedman, didn’t want to leave. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) asking Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) how they were and how there coffee was, which was a little bit strange. Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Officer Adam Ruzek (John Patrick Flueger) then hinted that they didn’t want to go to a particular seminar about a new software, as they could only do the easier things when it comes to the technological part of the Intelligence Unit. Jay, then, immediately suggested that they hire a fellow Ranger friend of his, named Mouse (Samuel Caleb Hunt) as he was a complete computer whiz, and because they had used him before, and told Voight that they could trust him.

Afterwards, Commander Fisher (Kevin J. O’Connor) came in with Lieutenant Guthrie from the Narcotics Division and asked Voight to send Detective Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) back undercover in order to help them investigate what happened to Rick Manning, an officer of theirs who had been undercover for eighteen months in a robbery ring that distributed illegal pharmaceuticals on the black market, as he hadn’t checked in when he was supposed to. As the division had spent two years investigating this ring, they wanted to make this as quiet as possible. Antonio then agreed to go, and reassured Voight that he wouldn’t go over, not like last time, when he had “almost lost it”. Ruzek then wired his cellphone so that they would be able to hear him, no matter what.

He then entered a bar, and after ordering a tequila, was approached by his old friend on the streets named Cooper, who knew him as Diaz.  After telling him that he had been in jail for three years, he told Cooper that he needed work and a quick way to get money. He then told him that he didn’t “call the shots” in the new crew he was working with, but that he’ll let him know if anything came up. After leaving the bar, he was starting to get robbed by a man at gunpoint, when Antonio intervened and shot the robber dead. They then took off in Cooper’s car. Later, it turned out that the man had been undercover, and was still alive.

The next day, in the bullpen, Jay informed them that Antonio was going to meet Vince Parker (Brendan McCarthy), a pointman who called the shots, and Terry Warfield (Charles Baker), his hired muscle. Voight then looked at both Jay and Erin, then informed them that Erin would be partnered up with Detective Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas) that day in order to talk to Rick’s wife.

Meanwhile, Officer Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) and Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) got annoyed after they learned that the robbery in progress call they had responded to was just a married couple trying to get rid of their tenant who had leased their apartment for a month on Air B n’ B, and who refused to leave. After discovering that their tenant was Mr. Freedman, Roman told them that they, the Vespies, should get a good lawyer, as this particular man had a penchant for suing the cops. They then left as it wasn’t a police matter anymore.

Meanwhile, Erin and Alvin paid a visit to Mrs. Krista Manning (Jessie Fisher), and searched her husband’s office, only to discover a hidden bag in the fireplace grate with two hundred grand in dollars, and a key for a hotel that wasn’t listed on his profile.

Ruzek and Atwater then checked out of the room, which they discovered had been trashed. After paying the superintendent, they discovered that Rick had left the hotel room a couple of nights ago, accompanied by a brunette woman, who definitely was not his wife.

Meanwhile, Antonio was shocked when, after meeting Parker and Warfield, Warfield punched him in the mouth. When he came too, he discovered that a friend of Parker’s asked him to punch him if he ever saw him again over some girl. Afterwards, he told him that for his “audition”, they were going to steal three million worth of unpackaged oxycodone from a local pharmaceutical company the next day. Antonio agreed with the condition that they would not kill anybody, to which Parker agreed.

Back at the precinct, the Vespies squared off with Roman and Burgess in front of Sergeant Trudy Platt (Amy Morton), who told them to speak when she told them too. Roman then informed her that Freedman already had suits against the city and had almost cost a rookie in his old district his job. Trudy then informed the couple that they would have to go through the eviction process. The husband left, annoyed, and the wife informed them that they had rented out their place in order to earn money as he had lost his job that Christmas. Burgess and Roman then went back, and Burgess told him that the CHA could give him a place to stay, but he told them that his wife, who was supposed to be with him there, had left him. After noticing some strange repairs inside, he told them that he had to fix a leaky faucet, and recorded Burgess saying that she wanted to strangle him.

Meanwhile, Antonio met up with Guthrie, Voight and Fisher, and Guthrie was surprised to learn about the money and the girl. Anotnio then asked them for more time, and was given the go signal to participate in the robbery.

Back at the bullpen, Voight asked Mouse about the truck full of BluRay Players that had been confiscated from him before, and the fact that he had hacked a DOD communications satellite in 2009. In order to prove himself, he showed Voight that he could hack his phone in two seconds. He then told him that he was okay with Mouse, just as long as Trudy signed off on it too. Erin then told them that the pharmaceutical company that was going to be robbed was going to cooperate with them, but since it was too late to switch the drugs, narcotics was going to follow them and identify the  stash house, and would wait until they knew that Antonio was safe before coming in.

That night, they wore masks, and held up the two security guards, who had been replaced by Jay and Alvin. They then left Warfield to guard them, who took off his mask to sniff something, and the rest managed to clean out the place of oxycodone. As they left, Antonio made sure that Warfield only managed to hit Alvin and not kill him. Afterwards, as Antonio and Cooper torched their getaway van, Cooper told him that he was thinking of quitting the life there and move to St. Louis where his cousin could get him some better jobs. Antonio then learned that the other guy, Rick, had “ripped” Parker and Warfield off, and that’s why they had been a man down.

Back at the precinct, Trudy asked Mouse why he had been given a medical discharge from the Rangers. He then started to tell her about the time that he and Jay were in the lead Humvee of an attack, and then drifted off. Trudy then told him that it was alright, and she told him that all he needed to do was to sign a couple of papers. Outside, as Mouch was asking Trudy if she wanted to go to Joe Cruz’s (Joe Minoso) Zumba class with him, Roman and Burgess used him to get inside the apartment that Freedman was in. Inside, they discovered that he had extended the wall, and when Mouch tore it down, they found the remains of his dead wife. Afterwards, Roman told Mrs. Vespie that they had their apartment back, but it was still a crime scene. Happy at the outcome, she hugged and kissed him, and told Trudy to vote him for officer of the year.

Back at Parker’s restaurant, they told Antonio that he was in, but that there was one more test that he had to do. He had to help them get rid of a spy inside their ring. Parker then snapped his wired phone into two and they went off in a car.

Meanwhile, Mouse informed Voight that Amber Banks (Natasha Forouzannia), the woman that Rick had left with, was a waitress at Parker’s restaurant, and gave him the home address. There, they discovered that she was about to skip town, but Erin and Alvin managed to get her to cooperate.

Meanwhile, Antonio and the others went to an abandoned building, where they found Rick Manning chained up and bloody. He told them that he was a police officer and that he hadn’t stolen from them at all. However, before Antonio shot him, he told them that it would be easier for him to drive off to a particular area to dump the body as it would be easier that way. Because of this, Parker told him that he had failed the loyalty test, and put a gun to his head. Thankfully, Voight, Atwater, Ruzek and Jay intervened, and Anotnio stabbed Parker in the shoulder. They then arrested Cooper who couldn’t believe that Antonio was a cop.

Later on, he decided to cooperate with them, but refused to speak to Antonio. In the other room, Rick insisted that he had done nothing wrong. Meanwhile, Voight was sent to the hospital as he had gotten shot in the arm, and Jay and Erin decided to cool things off as they knew that Voight knew about them.

Later that evening, Mouse thanked Jay for giving him this job, and Jay told him that he hasn’t seeing anybody anymore. At Molly’s, Erin asked Gabriella “Gabby” Dawson (Monica Raymund) if it was worth having a relationship with someone one works with. She then told Erin that sometimes, the “same risks that bring you together also weight too much” for a long term relationship.

Meanwhile, Voight met up with Antonio who was watching his children ice skate, and told him that the reason some people go over is that they forget who is who, and that his kids were the reason why he had never gone over the ledge.
