The “All My Children” actor Matthew Cowles passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014. He was 69 years old, and the cause of his death was not disclosed. He was the husband for more than 30 years of “The Good Wife” star Christine Baranski. Cowles and Baranski got married in 1983 and have two daughters, Isabel and Lily. Cowles was previously married to his co-star Kathleen Dezina (Estelle).

Tsu Tsu Stanton, Cowles’ manager, confirmed the untimely passing of the actor via Twitter.

“#Matthew Cowles passed away on 5/22.I had the pleasure of being his manager. He was a very gifted and kind man who loved life and everyone,” tweeted Stanton.

In an interview with Michael Fairman, Cowles described Baranski as a very successful actress.

“My wife, Christine Baranski, is a very successful actress!  I don’t make any comparisons.  She does The Good Wife, and she is terrific!  Oh my goodness, my wife is a good actress,” said Cowles to Fairman.

Moreover, the actor revealed what made him so good in portraying roles such as Tuggle. He recalled that he was blessed to be doing what he was good at, even more blessed to work somewhere he found bliss in doing his work.

“Every human being has their own strengths that are unique to them.  And I just was blessed enough to find out what I was good at.  Then, blessed enough to get hired to do something I find great joy in doing,” said Cowles in the interview with Fairman.

Cowles portrayed the role of Billy Clyde Tuggle in the ABC soap “All My Children”. He also reprised his role when “All My Children” aired in a web-only version in 2013. The actor has been nominated at the Daytime Emmy twice. Looking back, he had been in numerous stage and screen projects, namely: “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Life on Mars,” “Oz,” The Juror” (1996), “Slap Shot” (1977), “Stars and Bars” (1988), “Shutter Island” (2010), “American Loser” (2007), “Malcolm” (1966), “Sweet Bird of Youth” (1975) and “The Time of Your Life” (1969). Recently, he appeared in “Family on Board” (2014).

It’s sad that “All My Children’s” Matthew Cowles died at 69 years old. He was such an amazing actor and the entertainment industry would not be the same without him.
