When it comes to television shows, regardless of where one is, ratings are important as they are the quantitative value that shows producers and the television companies that they are under, whether their show is a success or not. Sometimes, the ratings are also determined by the time slot that they are shown, as one television show will no doubt have to compete against the other television shows in the same time slot. This, sometimes causes actors and actresses to have some sort of a friendly competition against each other, which, in this case is apparent between Super Junior members Choi Siwon and Leetuk, who will be having shows on different networks in which their time slots overlap. Read on to learn more about this story.
Currently, Super Junior’s Choi Siwon has been garnering a lot of popularity, thanks to the currently airing MBC drama, “She Was Pretty,” in which he portrays one of the secondary characters in the show.
However, despite the fact that he is just a secondary character, according to an article on K Drama Stars, the popular singer and actor is suffering from what is known as “Second Lead Syndrome,” wherein a secondary lead character usually becomes an instant fan favorite.
This also might be due to the fact that, according to Soompi, he and co-star, and leading lady Hwan Jung Eum, who portrays Kim Hye Jin, have excellent chemistry with each other, and good comedic timing, as seen in the episode last Wednesday, in a scene where he actually caught a pickled radish or “daikon” with his mouth, when he asked her to feed him, as he couldn’t due to a busted arm.
Siwon and the drama itself has gotten so popular that his fellow Super Junior member, Leetuk, is a little bit worried about the ratings of the upcoming second season of the music show “I Can See Your Voice,” which will be airing at an overlapping time slot, on MNET.
In a recent press conference held on October 22, 2015, according to All K Pop, Leetuk joked that he wanted Siwon’s drama to end already, so that he wouldn’t have to worry about the ratings of “I Can See Your Voice.”
However, he was quick to mention that he was happy that Siwon has gotten quite popular, thanks to the drama.
