Chris Evans stint in MCU has been a success and he will also be reprising his iconic role in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.

However, his future as the superhero remains doubtful. Following earlier comments that fans might not see him in the role after Avengers 4, his latest statement offered more update.

Chris Evans’ statement

Express reported that in an interview when Evans was asked if his role as Captain America has really come to an end, he had a slightly positive response.

According to the Avengers: Infinity War star, if Marvel were to offer him something at this point of time, he will not say no. According to him, whatever they offer him, he would happily be a part of it.

He also clarified that contractually his stint is over and he has no idea how his character will move forward in the MCU. But if the cinematic universe is moving to a new phase, he would be happy to stick around for a while.

He also reminisced about his stint in MCU. According to him, the first movie was seven years ago, which itself is incredible. Evans also admitted that he sometimes wonders what he will do when this stint is over compelling him to be more involved.

Previous statement

Earlier this year, Evans stated that he would leave the role after Avengers 4 releases, which came as a huge shock. His reason? He wants to focus on other projects and possibly get more into filmmaking.

Film direction was one aspect that he showed interest in and even directed a movie titled Before We Go, which co-starred Alice Eve.

Due to his statement, there were reports that the upcoming two-part ensemble will see his character getting killed.

Tenure as Captain America

Evans first played the super soldier in Captain America: The First Avenger. He also played the role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and the most recent Captain America: Civil War.

He will now be reprising the role in Avengers: Infinity War but following the events of Captain America: Civil War, fans might see some changes in his portrayal.

At the end of the last Avengers movie, he dropped his shield and walked away with Bucky. So now fans are dying to see if he will pick up the shield again or not when he return on the big screen.

Evans’ future as Captain America remains unclear. In the comic books, when Steve Rogers died, Bucky ended up becoming the next Captain America.

Much like in the comics, maybe Rogers will become a part of S.H.I.E.L.D and will regularly help other heroes without actually donning the costume again. He could also take on alternate identities like he did back in the comics.

Taking on alternate identities would also mean new costume and new superhero name for Rogers.

Avengers: Infinity War will see Avengers and Guardians teaming up to defeat Thanos, the mad titan. Thanos will have the power of all six infinity stones, which will practically make him a God.

With the mad titan wanting to destroy half of the universe, it would be interesting to see how the heroes will defeat him.

Release date

Avengers: Infinity War will release on May 4 next year and Avengers 4 will release on May 3, 2019.
