Chris Pine and Casey Affleck will be seen in the upcoming movie “The Finest Hours,” which is slated to be hit the theater in Jan. 29, 2016. The movie, which is directed by Craig Gillespie, is a disaster drama film based on the 2009 book “The Finest Hours: The True Story of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Most Daring Sea Rescue” written by Casey Sherman and Michael J Tougias.
The movie “The Finest Hours” is a real story of the inspirational Pendleton rescue mission successfully accomplished by Coast Guard ships off the Cape Cod coast during a winter season, when a catastrophic storm affected the East Coast of New England on Feb. 18, 1952.
The two Type T2-SE-A1 tankers – “SS Fort Mercer” and “SS Pendleton” – while on the way from New Orleans to Boston, broke in two affected by the sudden storm at south of Cape Cod. “SS Pendleton” could not make any distress call. Both the tankers were discovered by an American flying boat named “PBY Catalina” of United States Coast Guard.
A team of four members – Bernard C Webber, Andrew Fitzgerald, Ervin Maske and Richard Livesey – rescued the crew of Pendleton. The four members were set out on a small lifeboat confronting disastrous 70 feet waves and frozen temperature with an objective to rescue more than 30 stranded sailors who were on the verge of losing their lives as the vessel was rapidly sinking. Later, Webber, Fitzgerald, Maske and Livesey were awarded the Gold Lifesaving Medal for their heroic actions.
Walt Disney Pictures’ “The Finest Hours” co-stars Eric Bana and Ben Foster, who were earlier performed together in “Lone Survivor” released in Dec. 25, 2013. The cast also includes the charismatic stars like Graham McTavish, Kyle Gallner, Rachel Brosnahan, George Fisher, Holliday Grainger, Matthew Maher and Keiynan Lonsdale. Hope, the making of this movie is going to be so perfect that we will be watching the live show of the incident just going back to 1952.
