Wonder Woman has hit the jackpot at the box office. As a result, plans for Wonder Woman 2 have already begun. While a story for the sequel is yet to be finalized, the talk has been mostly about characters in the sequel.

Gal Gadot is confirmed to return but there is another character that fans really loved and would certainly want to see more of.

Chris Pine’s return

Screen Rant reported what Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins said about Chris Pine’s return in the sequel. According to the director, bringing back Pine’s character is tricky.

Elaborating on her statement, she stated that it is very hard to know which characters will be in the sequel given the time period. Unfortunately, because of her statement, it puts a big question even on Pine’s Steve Trevor who was an important part of the first movie.

Steve Trevor Character Similar to Indiana Jones

Pine plays the role of Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman. He is a US officer/spy who crashes near the hidden island of Themyscira. Diana saves him and nurses him back to health.

Upon knowing that a great war has unleashed that threatens to destroy mankind, Diana goes with Trevor to the outside world. Toward the end, it is Trevor whose sacrifice inspires Diana to keep on fighting for humanity and never give up on it.

The movie, instead of showing Trevor as Wonder Woman’s sidekick, portrayed him as an independent individual who had a set of beliefs of his own. Jenkins described him as a character who is very much like Indiana Jones.

Apart from being a very good spy and having a really good personality, he also has a roguish charm.

His Past

In the comic books, Trevor has had multiple versions of him written in stories. For the most part, he has been a highly skilled soldier/spy who has been on covert operations.

However, there is one thing that has remained the same in each version, his association with Wonder Woman. Whether it is during the First World War or in the present day, writers have always found ways to make the two meet each other.

In the most recent New 52 comic series on which the DCEU is based, DC has introduced Trevor as the Head of A.R.G.U.S, which is an organization that works regularly with the Justice League.

His role is also that of a liaison between the superheroes including Wonder Woman and the Government. Some months back, there was a rumor that two different versions of Trevor would be seen in Wonder Woman. But following the release, it is now clear that only the WWI version was included.

The two versions that were rumored to be included were the WWI version and the Head of A.R.G.U.S version who is based in the present day.

Maybe after having portrayed the WWI version of Trevor, Pine will come back as the Head of A.R.G.U.S in the present day and aid Wonder Woman again. Some outlets even stated that there could be a connection between the two but nothing has been confirmed about it.

If Pine shows up as the Head of A.R.G.U.S version, he could become the liaison between the League and the Government and thus fulfilling one of his important duties from the comic books.

Possibilities of return

The major advantage of doing a superhero movie is that characters can be brought back from the dead. In the comics, Trevor has been brought back to life multiple times.

When it comes to Wonder Woman 2, Pine could return as the Head of A.R.G.U.S who happens to meet Wonder Woman during a mission of hers. He could have no connection to the previous Trevor but could remind Diana of him.

Much like the older version, the new version would collaborate with the warrior and help her in defeating the main villain.

Plot

No official details on the plot of Wonder Woman 2 are known yet. Despite this, the makers are currently looking to finalize a story for the sequel.

Release date

Wonder Woman 2 does not have a confirmed release date.
