There is a lot of controversies in the society surrounding the possibility of one-to-one rape. Even the father of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud to today’s world famous psychologists and scientists have come up with lot of surprising facts regarding the actual possibility of rape without a mild “yes” of the victim “at any condition.” However, these subjects are not only controversial, when people like American singer Chrissie Hynde stirs up the issue by blaming the victim for being raped, the world never lets him/her stay aloof from swords of words.

The intention of Hynde was to elaborate the subject with her own experience saying that it could be woman’s fault if she is raped. She also opened up to The Sunday Times saying that rape victims “had to take their responsibility” for what misfortune happened to them. Her comments like “If I’m walking around in my underwear and I’m drunk? Who else’s fault can it be?” and lot more have infuriated people. She is also highly criticized for her “different” viewpoint on rape. However, the 63-year old lead singer of the rock band “The Pretenders” blamed herself for the incident when she had to perform sexual acts, when she was 21, under violence threat by an Ohio motorcycle gang.

According to The Guardian, a motorcycle gang member had promised the singer at her young age to take her to a party. But they had taken her in an empty house and raped her. She claimed that she was taking the “full responsibility” for whatever had happened to her.

“Technically speaking, however you want to look at it, this was all my doing and I take full responsibility. You can’t f*** about with people, especially people who wear ‘I Heart Rape’ and ‘On Your Knees’ badges … those motorcycle gangs, that’s what they do. You can’t paint yourself into a corner and then say whose brush is this? You have to take responsibility. I mean, I was naïve,” Hynde said.

While the rapper was asked that if her vulnerability led the gang to take undue advantage, she simply answered: “If you play with fire you get burnt. It’s not any secret, is it?”
