Barely a week after it was reported that former “Scrubs” star Christa Miller was set to reunite with John C. McGinley on the TBS comedy “Ground Floor,” the show has announced that the actress will no longer be making her guest appearance. What happened? Read on to learn the details.

The most-awaited reunion between former “Scrubs” co-stars Christa Miller and John C. McGinley was reported recently. The two have not been seen on the small screen together since their former comedy series folded up in 2010, and the chance to reunite them opened up when “Ground Floor,” which will return for a second season on TBS this December, has enlisted Miller to guest star as the wife of McGinley’s character.

Miller was supposed to play Allie Mansfield, the better half of finance honcho Remington Mansfield (McGinley). Allie would have to be the only person who could control the intimidating Mr. Mansfield, and the character was seen as similar to the role that Miller has perfected on “Scrubs.”

But alas, according to Entertainment Weekly, the anticipated reunion will no longer happen as Miller has backed out of her brief guest stint. The report cited that the actress could no longer appear on “Ground Floor” as she was committed to the production demands of “Cougar Town,” which also airs on TBS. The show is currently filming its final season.

In the place of Miller, the show has hired Emily Rutherford to play Allie, who is also described as a bit brassy and artistic. Rutherford’s list of television appearances include being a regular on “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (2006-2010), “Married to the Kellys” (2003-2004) and “The Ellen Show (2001-2002). She also had several guest episode appearances on “Will & Grace” (2003 and 2005).

While it may be disappointing for fans of “Scrubs” to learn that the reunion is no longer happening on “Ground Floor,” Rutherford as replacement should more than fill the void.

“Ground Floor” is a workplace comedy series that features a couple who work in different environments and backgrounds, with Remington Mansfield as the big boss and owner of Remington Trust, a financial company.

The show will be returning to TBS on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014.
