Co-producer Douglas Gresham gave updates about the concept of the upcoming film “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair.” What could fans expect? Read on to find out more.

In a video posted at the movie’s official Facebook account, Gresham, 69, revealed his aims for the next installment.

“I think this one, we’re going to see the beauty of Narnia return and that’s something I really want to have happen. I want people to come out of the cinema thinking, ‘Oh I wish I could go there,’” Gresham said.

Speaking on some possible changes in “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair” movie, Douglas Gresham said fans could see some slight modifications in order to have it work as a film.

“A lot of it is about three people walking across a bleak landscape. And you could keep that going for an hour or two, but you would still not have a movie,” Gresham said.

The changes concerned some fans who wanted the movie to stick to the book.

“These are the books which stories shouldn’t be changed even a little bit,” a fan commented.

“Problem is, the previous films, in adaptation, lost the heart of the stories. They were formulaic and darn awful. The Silver Chair is my favorite of the books since childhood, and it was the characters and their interplay that made it. I truly hope this film keeps the heart of the story, and doesn’t mess with the characters,” another fan said.

“Please just don’t change it as much as the third movie,” a fan begged.

However, Douglas Gresham assured he would stick to the messages that the original book was conveying at the same time instill in people’s minds the beauty of Narnia in “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair” movie.

“I’m kind of a Narnia purist, and I make myself really objectionable sometimes when people want to change things that shouldn’t be changed,” Douglas Gresham said.

As for the production, Gresham previously revealed it has not started yet. However, he said the script for the film is almost done.

“We’re still in the process of getting the screenplay right and it’s often a long process and slow process sometime. But we’re getting pretty close and I saw the latest edition not long ago and I’m very pleased with it,” Gresham said.

So far, statements about the release date of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair” movie has not yet been officially announced, except for some rumors that pointed to 2016-2017.

However, fans should take it with a grain of salt.

Douglas Gresham is the stepson of the late “Narnia” series author C.S. Lewis.
