Media continues to follow Lamar Odom and the Kardashians. Read on for more details.
On Saturday, October 17, USA Today reported that a man in a Los Angeles Lakers jersey yelled at a crowd outside the Sunrise Hospital in Nevada. He said, “Just let the man be in peace.” It was said that the man’s outburst was aimed at “The Circus.”
What’s “The Circus?” It is the term Nevada locals use to call news trucks and television cameras that are positioned at every available space that is close to the Sunrise Hospital, where Lamar Odom is staying at the moment. According to a local construction worker named Aaron Jones, “it is like the world has descended on one street.”
Ever since the former NBA star was brought to the Sunrise Hospital, the area has seen a massive influx of bystanders and news media. Odom was rushed to the said hospital on Tuesday, October 13, after being found unconscious and covered in blood at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch, a brothel located in Crystal, Nevada. It was reported that he suffered from drug overdose.
According to sources, an entertainment outlet paid hundreds of dollars to a budget hotel with a perfect sight line to the hospital to station their crew in the building’s parking area. Some reporters also camped out through the night.
A witness named Erica Ramos, 26, said: “For the last few days a lot of people around here were hoping all the trucks and everything would leave. But then you’re kind of conflicted. If they leave, it might mean he is dead.”
It will be recalled that Odom is a former NBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee and a two-time world champion, but majority of the news media who came to the Sunrise Hospital are from the entertainment industry. It is because Odom is still married to reality star Khloe Kardashian and her family was also in the said hospital.
Odom woke up from a four-day coma and regained consciousness on Friday, October 16.
