Constantine is no longer in television purgatory as Matt Ryan will be wearing his trench coat as he gets to visit  Starling City. The disenchanted exorcist will offer his mastery of the dark arts in an upcpming episode of The CW’s “Arrow.” Read on for more details.

Ryan’s reprisal of his then NBC comic book character will be on the fifth outing of Season 4 of “Arrow” on the aptly titled “Haunted.” The 34-year-old British actor recently proclaimed via Instagram of his one-shot guest appearance and what will be the start of his John Constantine character further rubbing elbows with the rest of the DC Television Universe (“The Flash,” DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow”).

Television writer and producer Mark Guggeheim was ecstatic of “Constantine”’s resurrection on TV and how Ryan’s smart-aleck cigarette-smoking anti-hero helps expands the fourth season of the “Arrow.”

Guggenheim confessed to TV Insider that, “Each year on the show, we have added and expanded the mythology with different elements. In Season 2 we introduced the idea of superpowers, last year brought in the League of Assassins, and for Season 4, we always had a plan to introduce magic and mysticism.”

The 44-year-old pointed out that the show had already been swimming in those waters especially with Ra’s al Ghul’s Resurrection Pit. That is why the John Constantine character is an instant shoo-in for this season.

The disenchanted cigarette-smoking exorcist and his series were axed by NBC after just 13 episodes. The eerie appeal of the show garnered a cult following. During its cancellation a furor of support from fans and the celebrity community virally made its way around the internet.TV Series Finale reports that this brewed rumors that the show was going to open its exorcism shop on The CW Network.

“Arrow” returns with new episodes starting Oct. 7, 2015 at 8 p.m. ET/PT Wednesdays on The CW.
