As Cosmopolitan celebrates its 50th year in the magazine industry, it brings back one of entertainment’s hottest icons for its cover. And after 25 years since her first appearance in the magazine’s cover, Madonna shows that she’s still got it!
For Cosmopolitan’s May 2015 issue, the magazine took in Madonna to once again grace its anniversary issue. But this is no ordinary anniversary issue either, for this is the 50th anniversary issue of Cosmopolitan. And if that isn’t enough of a milestone, Madonna is featuring the magazine in not one, not two, and not even three versions of the said edition. In fact, Madonna is up for four versions of the edition, all shot by famed photographer Ellen Von Unwerth.
This is the second time that Madonna posed as the cover girl of Cosmopolitan. She was also the cover girl for the magazine’s 25th anniversary issue back in May 1990. But in contrast to the rather simple and demure look she had in her first cover, Madonna took in a sexy, dominatrix look for this year’s cover complete with the sexy black outfit and seductive poses.
In the magazine’s featured article, Madonna talked about her career and it being long connected to sexuality. She said that the years may have by society’s outlook on sexuality didn’t change much, especially if it concerns women. “Since I started [my work], I’ve had people giving me a hard time because they didn’t think you could be sexual or have sexuality or sensuality in your work and be intelligent at the same time,” she said.
As for her bashers over the internet, Madonna simply said they can only talk like that about her because they had mediums that help them hide, e.g. computers and phones. She also added that she doubts if anyone can actually say what they’ve been saying over the Internet about her right in front of her face.
