Weeks after USA Network aired the Season 5 finale of “Covert Affairs,” it was made known to the public, thanks to TV Line, that the espionage themed hit series will no longer be gracing television screens as it was going to be cancelled. Read on to learn more about this story.

“Covert Affairs” Season 5 Episode 16 “Gold Soundz” aired last Dec. 18, 2014. After the episode, many fans speculated as what would be happening next to the CIA-themed show as it had left several questions hanging by a thread for ex-CIA Agent Annie Walker (Piper Perabo). For her, it was a question of whether she was going to agree to marry Ryan McQuaid (Nic Bishop) or accept Joan Campbell’s (Kari Matchett) job offer to her or both. However, for CIA technician Auggie Anderson (Christopher Gorham), his stint at the CIA was finished. He opted to travel the world with on-and-off again genius hacker girlfriend Natasha. She had been pardoned of all of her crimes after the ordeal that they had just encountered. For Auggie, the CIA story has finished. However, for Annie, there were still many possibilities open for her future, with or without the CIA, with or without Ryan. On the end of Arthur Campbell (Peter Gallagher), a new job prospect had opened up for him. It was a possibility that he could run for Senate. However, fans can now be at peace as it has been announced that the show was cancelled and will not anymore be renewed for a sixth season.

According to an interview with the “Covert Affairs” producers on TV Line right after the season ended, both Matt Corman and Chris Ord stated that they did want the show to continue. They knew that if it was a final episode for the series, then they at least had capped it off with a finale that they were proud of and that they were ending on a “high note.”

Corman, Ord, Piper Perabo and Peter Gallagher thanked their fans wholeheartedly for sticking to the show and for watching them tell a fantastic action packed story.
