“Covert Affairs” Season 5 has lately focused on matters of trust when it comes to relationships, romantic and nonromantic. However, this does not come naturally for a spy, as relationships and trust sometimes fall in the gray area. CIA Agent Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) has had her fair share of relationships. However, her friendship with the CEO of McQuaid Securities Ryan McQuaid (Nic Bishop) seems to be quite different as he is often unintentionally near to where she is due to the spheres of work they operate in. In an exclusive sneak peek, TV Line gives fans and viewers a hint as to where their relationship may be heading. WARNING! This article contains a spoilers for Season 5 Episode 8 “Grounded.” It will air on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on USA Network. Read on to learn more about the sneak peek and the upcoming episode.
According to the exclusive sneak peek from TV Line, the clip begins in one of Ryan’s planes, as they fly back home to Washington DC. In “Brink of the Clouds” (air date: Aug. 5, 2014), Ryan and his team served as Annie’s back up as they tried to locate and extract rogue CIA agent turned terrorist, Nathan Mueller. However, due to a drone strike ordered to annihilate Mueller and his camp, Annie and her team only managed to get out of that area, just in the nick of time.
In the clip, Annie seems to still be wearing her outfit from the last episode. Ryan enters and tells her that they are almost home. However, it doesn’t seem like she wasn’t able to take advantage of the ride home to catch some shut eye. Ryan tells her that he never gets to rest on a plane properly, as he is so used to flying his own planes, while Annie counters that she always has a feeling that there is always more work to be done. Ryan just smiles and tells her that “Sharks can’t stop swimming.”Amused by the comparison, a tired Annie allows herself to relax a little and participate in the exchange.
Ryan reasons that both of them are always alert and “wired,” ready for action for any mission that they need to do. Before he steps away from Annie’s sight, he reassures her that there is nothing wrong with being that way. As he steps away, she allows herself to relax, and a smile forms around her lips.
It looks like the past episodes have brought the two closer. However, does Annie trust him entirely yet? Can he be trusted? Let us know what you think by posting your comments below!
And that’s it for the “Covert Affairs” Season 5 Episode 8 “Grounded” update. It will air on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on USA Network.
