“Creed,” a 2015 movie starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan was a blockbuster hit, crossing the $100 million mark. The success of the Ryan Coogler-directed film is a strong sign of an upcoming sequel. Sylvester Stallone already expressed his interest to step back in the ring as Rocky Balboa.
There are rumors that the next Rocky franchise will arrive in 2017, with all the original actors to reprise their roles. It is not impossible to happen since the financer of Warner Bros., MGM CEO Gary Barber just confirmed that they are making a “Creed 2.” One of the actors who is expected to come back is Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed in the movie.
When asked by Hip Hollywood if he is interested in reprising his role, he said he heard the same rumor. but claimed that he is not one who believes in the rumors. “If the opportunity comes and and it seems right and it feels right, I could be enticed,” the 68-year-old actor said.
In his interviews following the Oscars 2016, Carl Weathers expressed how proud he is for Sylvester Stallone. His co-star and long-time friend in the business got nominated at the Academy Awards as Best Supporting Actor.
That was his first since 1977, when he got an Oscar snub for Best Actor. Stallone has not received any Oscar but he is happy for being one of the contenders, claiming that his nomination startled him.
While the original actors of “Creed” are reportedly reprising their roles, it is unclear if the film’s 29-year-old director Ryan Coogler will once again helm, as he will be busy for a couple of years to take care of Marvel’s “Black Panther.”
