Jennifer Lawrence has made some really interesting and concerned quotations over the last year. The star was and still is a very concerned person as to how the media might affect the young generation.
Despite her popularity over the internet about how open minded and for-the-people she is, the star seems to contradict most of her quotes.
Here are a few things she said over the past year.
“I’d rather look chubby on screen and like a person in real life.” — Mirror
“In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress, I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach.” — HuffPost
“I eat like a caveman. I’ll be the only actress that doesn’t have anorexia rumors.” — Entertainment Weekly
“I’m never going to starve myself for a part. I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner!’ […]I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong, not thin and underfed.” — Entertainment Weekly
“If anybody even tries to whisper the word ‘diet,’ I’m like, ‘You can go f- yourself.” — The Gaurdian
“What are you gonna do? Be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That’s just dumb.” — The Daily Mail.
It’s key to note here that while Jennifer is genuinely concerned about body image, she is consciously or unconsciously giving a bad name and image to thin people! Sure she might be a size or two above the normal Hollywood image but, she is also bashing on people who might be naturally thin or may be thin due to some sickness.
Celebrating chubbiness is all well and good for those people who actually are chubby or a bit out of shape, especially women. This parade that has brought JLaw to a very warm and welcome internet community has taken its toll on the part of the community that is not in that weight range. And there may be valid reasons for that!, a sickness, or a natural tendency to stay thin.
Apart from that, if you take a closer look at JLaw, she, most of the time seems to contradict her own quotes. While she says that being chubby is awesome and what not, she seems herself to be maintaining herself at a perfect and constant figure. She’s just above the THIN line and safely below the CHUBBY line so that people won’t be able to notice that much. On top of that, according to the famous comedian, Joan Rivers, “she does not have a nose, only two holes” and more that, “Jennifer needs to grow up”. The Catching Fire star does need to consider and be careful about what she throws out to the media.
Yes she does have a good intention but she’s got to be a bit more careful about what to say and how it might affect on the young generation and not just the chubby ones.
