“CSI: Cyber” Season 1 Episode 11 “Ghost in the Machine” aired last Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. on CBS. In this episode, after a teenaged gamer was murdered by accident, the Cyber Division entered a more dangerous world, in which a hitman used teenaged gamers to deliver his guns for him. This case also allowed the team to go after a cyber criminal who had eluded the team in the past. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with a young teenaged boy, who stopped playing his first person shooter game in order to deliver a package at a specific address. However, after placing the case on the pavement, he got curious, and upon opening it, discovered a drill, which he dropped accidentally when confronted by the house’s owner, which caused the gun hidden inside to go off and shoot him dead.

Meanwhile, before getting called to work, FBI Special Agent Elijah Mundo (James Van Der Beek) couldn’t be happier as his ex-wife, Devon Atwood (Alexie Gilmore) and him had had spent the night together. However, she wasn’t so happy about informing their daughter that they were back together as she felt that they were moving too fast, and decided to talk about things later, as Mundo had gotten a text from Avery which told him that Trigger- a deep web arms dealer that they had encountered before, was back. This was a good thing as they now had a second chance to cross his name off of the Cyber Most Wanted List, where he was seventh in rank. Brody Nelson (Shad Moss) then became disturbed after discovering that he hadn’t even managed to rank on that list.

FBI Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette), Mundo, Nelson and FBI Agent Daniel Krumitz (Charley Koontz) then headed up to Chicago, as the dead boy, Spencer Chapman (Max Barakat), was from that area. They then discovered that he was good at hiding things on his devices from his parent.

However, Nelson and Krumitz couldn’t find anything linking Spencer to Ramse Scott, the man whose house the gun had been left at. Raven Ramirez (Hayley Kiyoko) then told them to check his game console’s messages, where they discovered that a user named Viper75 (Antonio Jaramillo), Spencer’s mission commander in the game, had given Spencer a “real world” mission, to drop off the package that he had bought from Trigger (Chris Grabher), in order to claim a reward. They then discovered that Ramse Scott, the man who had found Spencer, had been killed. On the street was the same drill and case used to hide the gun.

Krumitz then discovered, thanks to some audio retrieved from the swap space part of the console, that Viper75 had been casing Spencer out by asking him weird questions such as what time his parents got home. They then discovered that Spencer had gotten hacked by Viper75, and lost all his upgrades and inventory just as he was in the top fifty in the leaderboard. Viper75 then gained Spencer’s trust by sending him an invite to join his team, and by giving him really good and rare items and gear before sending him on a “mission”.

They then identified another gamer, Ace, who was known as Micah Gordon (Dejon LaQuake), as Viper75’s latest errand boy, as he, who had undergone the same pattern as what had happened to Spencer, had just climbed up the leaderboard. After questioning him, they discovered that he didn’t open the case, and that he was given a katana sword as a reward. Mundo, as a gamer, then wondered how Viper was getting weapons that he didn’t have in the first place as a player couldn’t make items. This meant that he stole items from those he hacked and gave it to others. They then discovered that another person, Goldenbeast, had just climbed the leaderboard and was using a katana sword.

They then ran after Corey Smith (Samual Tan), who later told them that Goldenbeast was Jessica Pope (Stephanie Drake), but they were too late as the package had already been delivered. However, they managed to locate the gun’s case in a nearby park, but they were distracted by Viper, who fired a shot into the open air to confuse them.

Meanwhile, because the boxes from Trigger came from somewhere in Tampa, Florida, the team wrote an article with a supercookie that they could track if that person goes into the deep web. Because of this, they tracked Trigger down and arrested him.

However, Viper wasn’t finished yet, as another package had just been delivered.

Later that night, Viper75 got the package, only to discover that he had walked into Ryan’s trap. Thanks to phone records, they had discovered that the only number that matched the park and that area was the number of Kim Hawthorne, who together with Ramse Scott, were the witnesses that sent Viper75’s robber father to jail.

Back at the Cyber Threat Operations Center, Krumitz removed Trigger from the list, and Nelson learned that Raven had been on the list. Mundo then decided not to join the team in playing a first person shooting game with each other, as his ex-wife had decided that she and their daughter were moving back in with him.
