“Dance Moms” Season 5 Episode 6 “Nia Risks It All” aired last Feb. 10, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. on Lifetime. The episode kicks off with Holly Frazier attacking Abby Lee Miller from the previous episode’s conflicts. Read on to know more about the impending fight.
At first, Abby ignores her and tells the kids to go to the other room to dance. Holly continues by saying that Abby is a liar. She calls her “nasty” and “shallow.” She guarantees that she is not leaving the team because she does not want to lose against Abby. She emphasizes that she is not like the previous dance mom Kelly Hyland, and Nia Frazier is not the next Paige and Brooke Hyland or Chloe Lukasiak. Before going out, she accuses the other dance moms to be cowards.
Jill Vertes is shocked to see Holly so upset for the very first time. Holly cries outside and says that she is already “sick and tired of it.” She says she cannot take it anymore. She believes Nia deserves better. She describes Abby as a “vicious” and “vile woman.” She is frustrated that the other dance moms just stood inside quietly while Abby was breaking her kid apart. She calls Abby “insane” and “crazy.” Abby looks unshaken.
Suddenly, Abby calls recording artist Aubrey O’Day to tell her that Holly just threw a fit. She says that she should have taped it to send the tantrum to her. She tells her that Holly is taking advantage of their friendship. Jessalynn Siwa is impressed with Abby’s connections. She thinks Holly should keep Abby as a manager.
Abby tells the stunned dance moms that she thinks Holly does not want to be part of the team anymore. Jill disagrees. In Abby’s defense, she thinks Holly was using her name behind her back to gain connections for herself.
Hurriedly, Abby explains in the pyramid that JoJo Siwa, Nia and Kendall Vertes are on the base. She takes JoJo’s photo and puts it away from the pyramid because she remembers that JoJo is not part of Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC). Next ones are Kalani Hilliker and Mackenzie Ziegler. The topmost is Maddie Ziegler.
Then Abby tells everyone that they are going to the Sheer Talent competition. She says that she is certain that they are going to be embarrassed. The solo performances will be on Kendall and JoJo. Jill thinks Abby is “nuts” to give JoJo a solo. Suddenly, Abby starts crying. She admits that she was just pretending that it did not matter. She screams that nobody must treat her the way Holly did. She announces that she does not want to teach dance anymore. Then she walks out. Jill says it is not the first time Abby said goodbye. However, she is not certain if she is going return again.
The dance moms are talking while the kids are having their rehearsal. Nia and Holly are nowhere to be found. Suddenly, Abby arrives to proceed with the group routine practice. Speaking of Holly and Nia, they go to Aubrey for the recording.
While Kendall is practicing for her Bollywood solo, Jessalynn asks Jill if she is scared that JoJo will beat Kendall. Jill directly says no. She describes JoJo only as a “performer.” Jessalynn says it was a good day yesterday. The other dance moms disagree because it was a tough day for Holly. Jessalynn tells them that she only cares for JoJo.
The next day, Melissa Ziegler tells the kids that they must teach Nia the group dance if ever she is coming back. The girls are not confident that Nia can catch up because of the new and complicated choreography. Shortly after, Nia and Holly arrive. The dance moms are excited that Nia got a recording contract.
Meanwhile, JoJo is nowhere to be found. Melissa says that they do not need JoJo because Nia is already present. Suddenly, Giana receives a call from Abby who is still working on JoJo’s costume. She tells her that JoJo is not present, and Nia returned a while ago. Still, Abby says that Nia is not included in the group number. Giana goes to the dance moms to tell the bad news.
In a restaurant, Holly tells the dance moms that Jessalynn is taking advantage of her situation to make JoJo a part of ALDC. Speaking of which, Jessalynn arrives and tells the moms that JoJo is being treated for head lice. Holly attacks Jessalynn about criticizing her attitude towards Abby. She tells her that she is “disgusted” of her because Jessalynn is a “lousy mother.” She walks out.
In the day of the competition, the dance moms are pleased to see Abby wearing makeup and fixing her hair. Jill welcomes her back. Abby tells the moms that she was not gone – she was just making “better things with better people.”
While JoJo is practicing for her solo, Abby tells her that she is not “psycho” enough. She asks her if she has watched “Carrie.” JoJo shakes her head. Jessalynn tells Abby that she explained the film to her daughter. She says JoJo has watched the trailer. In Kendall’s turn to rehearse, Abby scolds her for the wrong facial expression. Suddenly, Kendall cries because her costume is too tight. It is fixed immediately.
It is time for the competition. In the middle of Kendall’s “Welcome to a New World” solo number, the music suddenly stops playing. She continues the routine with the rhythmic claps of the supportive audience. After JoJo’s “Prom Queen” performance, Abby says that she is pleased but thinks that JoJo could have done a better job with the emotional content. Next, ALDC performs their group routine called “Collateral Damage.”
For the solo awards, JoJo receives fifth place while Kendall wins second. Thankfully, their group dance wins first place after a series of second-place group awards in the previous competitions.
In the dressing room, Jill says that Nia still should have joined the group routine. The other dance moms agree. However, Holly thinks they are shallow because she believes that they are cowards in front of Abby. Jessalynn butts in and announces that JoJo joined the group routine and they have won. Holly concludes that they are a “broken team.”
