The famous dance instructor, Abby Lee Miller is in news for her unfair attitude towards one of the contestants named Nia Frazier of Lifetime’s “Dance Moms” Season 5. Abby was seen showing distaste backstage over Nia’s win on the Aug. 4 episode, despite the fact that Nia came in at first place in the teen solo performance and the other contestant named Kalani Hilliker, whom Abby was supporting, walked away in third place.
Only the highest placed dancer would be awarded with a solo at Nationals, said the ALDC coach to her two students Nia and Kalani before the show. And when Nia asked Abby about the same after her win, Abby disappointed former kid by saying that Kalani “had a huge breakthrough today.” In the show, Nia performed on a jazz upbeat solo titled “Bye Felicia” whereas Kalani danced on the tunes of “Shades of Grey.”
Nia by coming first, has proved Abby and a majority of moms wrong as they had the notion that Kalani is better than Nia. Dance coach Abby said, “Oh, I don’t. She’s won what, three times in her life,” she said. “For what it’s worth I thought Nia was great, but she does not blow me away. I need a sure thing and my sure thing is Kalani.”
However, she remained mum on the comment “Oh My God” which she passed backstage after judges declared first place to Nia.
Nia’s mother expressed her feelings on Twitter by saying, “Somehow the rules change when Nia wins! Are you surprised? #[email protected]” IB Times quoted several tweets from fans including one who wrote, “Nia completely, 100% deserves a solo at nations. She won, fair and square.”
“[I] have never been disappointed in Abby Lee miller as I was tonite!!! Doesn’t play fair, cheated Nia big time,” another fan wrote
Given the backlash that ALDC coach Abby Lee Miller has been receiving from fans and viewers, will she finally change her mind (again) and let Nia Frazier perform a solo at Nationals?
