Dancing With Stars may not pay its hottest contestant, Bindi Irwin any money unless the legal terms are sorted out. Bindi Irwin may have trouble getting her paycheck because of strange laws in the United States.
Bindi Irwin is in a strange predicament. She may be winning all the rounds on Dancing with the Stars Season 21, but she will probably have to find a way to work around a legal hassle before she can cash in on the 125 thousand pay check from the producers of the show. Apparently, the laws in California dictate that every minor have a quitclaim permission from their parents before they can get paid. Bindi is still a minor and has a problem on that front. Her dad, TV personality, Steve Irwin, died while filming a show with a Sting Ray.
According to Forbes, there are always workaround for such situations. Her mother has already signed a quitclaim for her and she might get the money after her mother produces her father’s death certificate. The quitclaim is essential for a minor’s protection on financial matters. It helps parents waive off any portions they might want to receive from their minors earnings.
Child artists almost always get into financial trouble because the adults have failed at taking care of finances intentionally or unintentionally. There have been horror stories of parents embezzling money from their children’s money. Another contestant on the DWTS, Nick Carter, has a brother who has experienced similar troubles. Nick’s brother, Aaron Carter, had accused his mother of taking all his money when he had filed for bankruptcy.
Meanwhile Bindi is on her way to dancing star celebrity. Her instructor, Derek Hough, has consistently honed her talent and she is in superb form. We hope that Bindi settles her problems on the legal front too and gets her pay check.
