“Harry Potter” star and boy-who-lived Daniel Radcliffe is joining as lead in true life FBI thriller “Imperium.” The 26-year-old actor will play the role of a young FBI agent infiltrating neo-nazis. Read on to find out more.
The British actor, who has played many eclectic roles in his post “Harry Potter,” career, from horror movies like “The Woman in Black,” to controversial theater in “Equus,” to the legitimately weird “Horns,” has never been seen as a law-enforcement officer.
“Imperium” follows the exploits of his character as a FBI agent. Hewas described to be going on a undercover mission to find the bomb-making white supremacists.
According to Brennan Center for Justice, it is based on the real-life exploits of FBI veteran Michael German, who went undercover into “extremist groups” multiple times, preventing terrorist attacks. It is worth noting that he has since left the organization and has been vocally critical of their surveillance techniques.
“Imperium” is being directed by short filmmaker Daniel Ragussis, who was critically applauded for his previous work “Haber.” Deadline reported that it will be produced by Ty Walker, Dennis Lee, and Simon Taufique. Filming is scheduled to begin this fall.
In the meantime, Radcliffe is busy with diverse projects. These range from “Swiss Army Man” with Paul Dano, to “Victor Frankenstein” with James McAvoy. He is also making a TV movie that showcases the life of Rockstar Games president Sam Houser AKA “Game Changer.” It is about the creation of the infamous Grand Theft Auto series of video games.
