Read on to learn more about this episode.
Eight years ago, in a prison in Siberia, Valdimir Ranskahov (Nikolai Nokolaeff) helped his brother, Anatoly Ranskahov ( Gideon Emery) and himself escape from prison.
Eight years afterwards, in the present day, at Hell’s Kitichen, Anatoly, who received a beating from the vigilante, escaped in his taxi cab, and told one of his henchmen to get his brother on the line.
Meanwhile, Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) patched Matthew “Matt” Murdock (Charlie Cox) up as he had just fought with the Russians. He then told Claire to put her number in his cellphone so that he could call first before showing up without warning.
Meanwhile, Wesley (Toby Leonard Moore) showed up at Veles Taxi, which was owned by the Ranskahov brothers, on behalf of his employer, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), who wanted to help them out, as they had been of no use to keep the vigilante at bay, and they had been failing to distribute the required amount of product around the city. However, a very proud Vladimir refused Fisk’s help, and decided to put a tail on Fisk.
Afterwards, the two brothers went to Semyon at the hospital, and forcibly woke him up. He told them that the devil had beaten him up, and gave them the address of Claire’s apartment before he died.
While this happened, Ben Urich (Vondie Curtis-Hall) met up with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), at a diner, where he told her to stop pursuing the Union Allied Construction story.
After meeting with the Russians, Wesley assured Fisk that everything was going according to plan, and Fisk decided to find another solution to their vigilante problem. He then invited Vanessa Marianna (Ayelet Zurer) out to dinner at an Italian restaurant that had just opened.
Back at the office, just as Matt was heading home, he received a phone call from Claire, in which he heard her being abducted by the Russians. After discovering that she was still alive, he went to Santino, who told him that the men had driven off in a taxi from a taxi service called Veles Taxi, and that he had told them Claire’s address as they threatened to kill his mother.
Meanwhile, Karen, who was at an auction, as she realized that Union Allied was buying back its old equipment under another name, just as she suspected, ran into Ben, who advised her to bid on something small and told her to meet him at the diner afterwards. There, he told her that he was going to help her, but she needed to sign the agreement that Union Allied gave her, and to not talk about it ever again, so that he could begin to investigate.
Later, she apologized to Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) for buying such outdated equipment during the auction, but he was delighted that they actually now had some semblance of an office.
Matt then managed to find the headquarters of Veles Taxi, where Claire was being tortured for information about him. He then fought off everyone, and took a scared Claire back to his apartment.
After telling her how frustrated he was that Claire had gotten hurt because of him, Claire reminded him that he had to keep doing this, as he was one of the only people who could help the city.
Because of the vigilante, Anatoly showed up at the restaurant where Fisk and Vanessa were, saying that he accepted his help. Because of this, and because he had been a client, Vanessa became unsure of her feelings for him.
Upset, Fisk beat up Anatoly and decapitated his head using the car door. Wesley then warned him that he had just started a gang war, which he fully expected would happen.
