“Daredevil” Season 1 Episode 5 “World on Fire” aired last Friday, April 13, 2015 at 12:01 a.m. on Netflix.  In this episode, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) are caught in the crossfire, while helping a client of theirs, as Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) made his move on Hell’s Kitchen, while framing Matthew “Matt” Murdock (Charlie Cox) with the death of one of the Russians. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with Matthew “Matt” (Charlie Cox) treating Claire Temple’s  (Rosario Dawson), back wound, which had opened up. He then explained to her that he often sees the “world on fire”, as his other heightened senses often helped him build a painting of what is around him.  Matt then told her that everything, including the recent murder of Mr. Prohaszka (Peter Claymore), who owned the taxi companies in Hell’s Kitchen that had been taken over by the Russians, somehow was related to Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). However, the only name that Claire had heard was Vladimir Ranskahov ( Nikolai Nikolaeff) ,who was the leader of the Russians.  After the two kissed, he left for the office.

Meanwhile,  Vladimir was shown Anatoly Ranskahov’s (Gideon Emery) decapitated corpse, and after seeing a black bandana, which Fisk had placed there to frame the vigilante for his murder, sent the entire Russian mob to find Matt.

Afterwards, Fisk met up with Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho), Nobu (Peter Shinkoda) and Leland Owlsley (Bob Gunton) in order to explain that they were going to get rid of the Russians once and for all. After they all agreed to it, Fisk escorted Madame Gao to her car, as he had some business to discuss with her.

Later that night, Matt was unable to rescue one of the blind Chinese drug mules of Madame Gao who had just made a delivery to the Russians, but was able to discover from one of them that Vladimir blamed him for his brother’s death.

The next day Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) became annoyed at the old Xerox machine that she had bought as it refused to work. They were then interrupted by Mrs. Elena Cardenas (Judith Delgado), a client, who was having trouble as her no good landlord was trying to forcefully evict her and her neighbors out of their homes so that he, Mr. Tulley, could construct some condominiums in its stead. It got so bad that the workers who had been supposed to help fix the wiring in their apartments, didn’t finish their work, which left them with no water and electricity.

Karen and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) headed over to Landman and Zack, where Matt and Foggy used to intern, and ran into Marci Stahl (Amy Rutberg), Mr. Tulley’s lawyer and Foggy’s ex-girlfriend, who told them off. However, Foggy realized that they had the upper hand in the battle and told her that they would see her at court. The pair then paid Mrs. Cardenas a visit, who repaid them by cooking them a meal for two, as they had helped repair her sink. The two then bonded over Foggy’s stories of his and Matt’s years and college, and Karen began to ask questions about Matt.

Meanwhile, Matt went over to the police station to gather some information on Mr. Tulley, and heard two police detectives as they interrogated a Russian, and killed him after he mentioned Fisk’s name. Later that night, Matt, as the vigilante, confronted one of the detectives, and took his phone, which contained several addresses, which Matt knew would lead him to Vladimir. Before he left, Claire told him that she could never be in love with him as he strayed too much to the point where he could actually become someone that he hated.

Meanwhile, after discovering from Turk Barrett (Rob Margan) that Fisk was the one who killed Anatoly, Vladimir set a bounty of $ 1 Million for Fisk, and assumed that the vigilante was working for Fisk. He then ordered everyone to gear up as they were launching a war against Fisk.

While this happened, Fisk had another date with Vanessa Marianna (Ayelet Zurer), who told him that she had brought a gun as she knew he was a dangerous man, but he reassured her that as long as she was by his side, she would be safe. He then admitted that he has done, and will do terrible things, but explained that he only did this to help the city.

At the same time, as Matt neared the headquarters of the Russians, the entire place blew up. At another part of the city, Foggy, Karen and Mrs. Cardenas were blown off their feet, as another explosion happened right beside them. Meanwhile, in the restaurant, Fisk explained that he had gotten rid of the Russians, as they were kidnappers.

In the car, Wesley paid Turk, as Vladimir had acted according to plan, as his words had provoked him into doing so.

However, Vladimir, who was still alive, and being carried away by Sergei, was beaten up by the vigilante, who was interrupted by the police, who told him to freeze.
