Former superhero Jessica Jones now has something to worry about, as one of her biggest enemies, Killgrave, is coming to the small screen. According to TV Line, the villain will be portrayed by none other than prominent actor David Tennant. According to MARVEL’s official page, the villain, Killgrave (David Tennant), is set to “send shockwaves to the former superhero’s world.” It was especially as Jessica Jones has had dealings with this particular villain in the past.
The show’s producers are excited to have a talented actor such as Tennant to breathe life into this multifaceted character. According to showrunner and executive producer Melissa Rosenburg, she believes that Tennant will make Killgrave “a truly original villain.”
Executive Producer Joseph Loeb believes that this role will be a great addition to the other memorable characters that Tennant has already portrayed and that it would be interesting to see Tennant, who usually portrays heroes on screen, to portray a villain, which he hopes will “unleash a whole new side of this talented actor.”
Tennant is best known for portraying the Tenth Doctor in BBC’s “Doctor Who.” He recently and currently is starring in BBC’s “Broadchurch,” and it’s American remake, “Gracepoint,” where he plays one of the leading detectives.
The show, “AKA Jessica Jones,” centers on the former superheroine portrayed by Krysten Ritter, who retires from being a superhero in order to become a private investigator. However, she never strays to far from what she is used to, as she deals with cases that have to do with people with superhuman abilities.
Jessica herself was affiliated with other MARVEL superhero teams and also has superhuman abilities. According to Marvel.com, Jessica Jones possesses superhuman strength and has the ability to fly. She was also at one point affiliated with the superhero group “The Avengers.”
