Deadpool 2 finally has its principle characters sorted. Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz will be joining Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool as Cable and Domino respectively.

However, it seems that the Deadpool sequel will be introducing more characters to set up a future project of the X-Men cinematic universe.

More X-Force characters

Screen Rant reported that Deadpool 2 is all set to introduce more characters from the X-men universe, particularly the ones that have been part of the covert mutant team X-Force.

According to the outlet, it has been known for a while that the Reynolds starrer will be used in the XCU to set up X-Force movie. By introducing more characters from the covert team, the studio is taking steps toward doing just that.

Sunspot, Feral, and Shatterstar are the three X-Force characters that are being added to the sequel. Sunspot aka Robert da Costa has the power to channel solar energy and absorb it.

Feral, on the other hand, has been known as both superhero and a supervillain in the X-Men universe. She has sharp claws, healing factor, enhanced senses and feline appearance.

Finally, Shatterstar is known for his way with swords. He has the ability to teleport himself using the swords, and he can also generate shockwaves and also possesses a healing factor.

Casting process

The outlet reported that no casting for these characters has taken place yet but if the three characters are being added to Deadpool 2, casting the roles will have to take place in the coming months.

With many young talents present in the business, the Deadpool sequel will have ample of options when it comes to casting the three mutants.

Cable and Domino

Apart from the three future X-Force members added to the roster, the sequel also has Brolin’s Cable and Beetz’ Domino in the movie. Cable is a time-travelling antihero who is also known as the leader of the covert mutant team.

Since he is the leader, he will play the most important role in shaping the team. Also sharing a deep history with the mercenary, he will have a bigger role to play in the cinematic universe.

Domino, on the other hand, happens to be Cable’s love interest and a key member of the X-Force. She is also one of the most efficient assassins in the X-Men universe and shares a love/hate relationship with Deadpool.

Setting up X-Force

Setting up X-Force, the studio seems to be not waiting for Deadpool 3 to introduce the mutant team. The outlet added that a post-credits scene in Deadpool 2 would introduce Shatterstar, Feral and Sunspot in the XCU.

With the three members being introduced, X-Force will have gathered at least six members who will come together to undertake covert operations. Also with Logan introducing Wolverine’s daughter X-23 in the XCU, it would be interesting to see if she ends up joining the team or not.

Plot

While no official plot about the movie has been revealed yet, the movie is expected to continue the mercenary’s story from the first installment.

Cable and Domino will be introduced in this movie, as they will join hands with Deadpool in what can be expected to be a time travelling adventure. Characters like Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Weasel are expected to return as well.

Much like the first movie, the sequel will be shot in Vancouver this year as pre-production on the movie has already begun. Brolin who will be playing Cable had shared a picture on his Instagram some time back revealing the preparation he is going through to play Cyclops’ son.

Release date

Deadpool 2 is expected to release on June 1 next year.
