Well “Deadpool” might be the origin story of the mercenary with a mouth, but there’s another character in the movie whose story will also be explored in the movie. “X-Men” member Colossus who has been a part of the superhero team will have his story told in an elaborated way in the movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Colossus who has appeared in “X-Men” movies before never really got the attention the character deserved, however with “Deadpool” releasing next year, Colossus will have a lot more to do in the movie. Andre Tricoteux who is portraying the role of Colossus stated that his version in the movie is more on the lines of the comic book. Colossus in “Deadpool” is going to stay true to his original character and perhaps that was the reason why the first thing that the makers of “Deadpool” did was to do justice to his size. Daniel Cudmore who has previously played the same role too did a wonderful job playing the character but the “Deadpool” set pictures that were released a few months back showed Andre as the real Giant when he was shooting for his scenes in the movie. Then there was that scene in the trailer when Colossus slaps Deadpool and the latter goes flying away crashing into a car. The height difference is remarkable and Andre really looks like the character who himself is said to be more than 7 feet tall.
Andre too praised director Tim Miller who had a certain vision for the character and because of which the character will not be having a small role like the previous version.
Screen Rant too noted that the Colossus, which will be re-introduced in next year’s “Deadpool” will be twice as big as Cudmore’s version and will be staying true to his ethnicity, which is Russian. Since Andre too is Russian, the lines he will be speaking in the movie will be in his authentic Russian accent. Given the way Ryan Reynolds has been promoting “Deadpool,” fans each day are getting more and more impatient waiting for the movie. “Deadpool” will release on 12th February 2016.
