The Mercenary with a Mouth came, conquered and won over fans who were simply bowled over by his role in his stand alone movie. The trailer is already a hit on web and even before the movie releases, buzz is that a sequel is already being planned. Seems just about right because when fans could successfully pressurize producers into getting a solo movie for “Deadpool,” then imagining “Deadpool 2” won’t be that hard.
According to Comicbook.com, Empire recently scored an interview with director Tim Miller who mentioned that he would like to use Cable in “Deadpool” sequel if there’s going to be one. Luckily there aren’t many Deadpool villains apart from Cable who also happens to be Cyclops’s son. Tim Miller also stated that if they don’t use the character in “Deadpool 2,” they might not know whom to use as the main antagonist.
If reports are to be believed then 20th Century Fox is already brainstorming on ideas for a sequel and chances are there that they bring in Cable. The relationship between Deadpool and Cable has been quite unique one. They have been enemies and have also shared an unlikely bond of friendship. The reason they were enemies was because Deadpool was brainwashed into killing Cable. Their relationship is also called as one of the strongest bromances in comic history. It would be interesting to see Deadpool’s frenemy Cable in the sequel because he would make an interesting addition. The character whose real name is Nathan Christopher Charles Summers is the son of Scott Summers and Madelyn Pryor who was a clone of Jean Grey. Known to possess telekinetic and telepathic powers, he was sent into the future for his own protection. Upon growing up, it is said that he came back in time to change the fate of the world.
It would be interesting to see both the characters battle it out in a sequel, which is slowly gaining popularity ever since “Fantastic Four” reboot turned out as a huge disappointment. Reports suggest that Fox is contemplating swapping “Fantastic Four” reboot sequel with “Deadpool” sequel for a 2017 release. It can only be confirmed once 20th Century Fox makes an official announcement.
