Are the Sacramento Kings going to trade top Power forward Demarcus Cousins in the upcoming season? The rumblings of such an event have intensified with a reported ‘volatility’ between Cousins and new ‘Kings’ head-coach George Karl. Read on to find out more.
The signals of trouble in the Sacramento Kings’ paradise started with an awkward moment between Cousins and Karl at the NBA Summer League. In April, two months after taking over the helm at Kings, Karl announced that despite his tremendous respect for Cousins, he was yet to meet a player who is “un-tradable,” in an interview with Pro Baseball Talk.
Now adding fuel to the fire is Bleacher Reports Howard Beck, who announced that Cousins, along with LaMarcus Aldridge, could be up on the trading block in the upcoming season. Speaking about the troubled relationship between Cousins and coach Karl, Beck reported, “if there are problems between them… then you’ve got to expect at some point, the Sacramento Kings have to at least consider it. And DeMarcus Cousins — yeah, young, elite, one of the top big men in the NBA. There’ll be plenty of interest for him around the league.”
The 25-year-old Power forward has responded to these claims with a tweet that reads only “Blah Blah Blah.”

Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and and vice-president of basketball and franchise operations, Vlade Divac have rushed to Cousins’ rescue on twitter.

And now the consensus is that perhaps Karl went too far with his ‘untradeable’ comment.
Cousins currently has three years left in his $62 million contract with the Kings. Despite health issues with meningitis, Cousins has been in beautiful form last season, averaging 24.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 blocks per game, all career highs.
