The golden couple of Hollywood is on a role in depicting the realities of war. Brad Pitt is storming the box office as he stars and produces in the Sherman Tank-centered war movie, “Fury.” This time around, his partner is getting real and passionate in another World War II pic, as Angelina Jolie directs “Unbroken,” a bio pic centered on the true-to-life story of Louis "Louie" Zamperini, a former Olympic runner and a World War II survivor. The movie is based on the nonfictional novel written by Laura Hillenbrand that’s under the combined production studios of Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures.
“My brother used to say that I could do anything. That I was better than I am.” The second trailer starts off with Louie Zamperini, played by Jack O’Connell, with the rest of the soldiers riding a warplane in the open seas that later on got shot down by the Japanese navy. After the plane crash lands in the open waters, the image sequences shifted back to when he was a kid and how he dreamed to compete and finish everything he has started. Previews of his tribulations in joining and competing for the Olympics and later becoming a soldier who fights for his country were shown with a compelling montage that will aim to send sentimental emotions to the viewers.
According to Screen Rant, the trailer alone is more than enough indicator that the movie will be encompassed with inspiring elements. Zamperini’s story will reach out to every viewer and soothe their sentiments to their core as the movie showed the progression of a man’s life as he went from zero to hero to being the ultimate survivor.
Despite the man who inspired the creation of the book and the movie passing away before its completion, Jolie made sure that she would get his approval for creating such medium based on Indie Wire’s report. They also featured actor Jack O’Connell as he describes his undertaking of such a magnanimous role that it broke him several times during the production just so he could truly depict what it means to be unbroken.
From the direction of Angelina Jolie comes the true-to-life story of the ultimate survivor. “Unbroken” stars Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Garrett Hedlund, Finn Wittrock, Jai Courtney, Alex Russell and C.J. Valleroy. It opens in theaters on Dec. 25, 2014.
