All is looking well for the DirecTV original drama series, “Rogue” and its star, Hollywood actress Thandie Newton. According to Deadline, the series has been renewed for twenty more episodes. Read on to learn more about this story.
The network’s original scripted series stars Thandie Newton as Grace Travis. Her character is an undercover cop, who later on became an FBI handler. The first season, which first aired in 2013, featured Grace as she went undercover in a criminal organization. She also wanted to find vengeance for her son’s death.
During its sophomore season, Grace became an FBI handler and went back undercover to infiltrate a security firm owned by Ethan Kelly (Cole Hauser) after one of her female undercover operative she was handling suddenly went missing. “Rogue” Season 2 just finished its run on July 30, 2014.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the twenty new episodes, that will make up the sizable third seasons, will be aired in two batches of ten episodes. The first ten episodes will start production in January 2015, and will be aired during the Spring. The ten remaining episodes will be aired the following year, in 2016. However, it has not been confirmed whether these twenty episodes will conclude the show.
The size of the upcoming season is a sizable one for the series, as both its first and second season only had ten episodes per season. However, Deadline pointed out that placing an order for a sizable season is not unheard of in the business.
Deadline also confirms that Cole Hauser, who portrays Ethan Kelly, will be rejoining Thandie Newton in the third season.
The series was created by Matthew Parkhill, who is known for directing “The Caller” in 2011, and is produced by Entertainment One and DirecTV.
Rogue’s renewal is the latest addition to DirecTV’s recent announcements of series pickups alongside “Kingdom,” “Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight”, and the British series “Uncle.”
