Moana” is one of Disney’s upcoming movies to be released next year and the animated movie is already causing buzz among viewers because of its close resemblance to the themes of “The Lion King” and “Pocahontas.” Will the upcoming animated movie surpass the success of these two hit movies? Disney is hitting on every chance that they can get to score another record-breaking success in the realm of animated movies. Following the massive success of their 2013 movie, “Frozen,” the company is left with a challenge to continue bringing heartwarming stories to the table that do not need a princess getting saved by a prince with a kiss.

Now, Disney is bringing viewers with another heartfelt tale of a young woman who journeys into the sea in an attempt to fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest in the 2016 animated movie, “Moana.”

What makes “Moana” special and something for viewers to look forward to?

According to Variety, “Moana” is Disney’s first-ever Polynesian princess movie. Its musical foundation takes inspiration from previous animated films like “Pocahontas” and “The Little Mermaid.” The movie will also make viewers relive the infamous “The Circle of Life” song number popularized in the movie, “The Lion King.”Disney’s Chief creative officer John Lasseter also revealed during his two-hour presentation (via

The Guardian reported that Disney’s Chief creative officer John Lasseter also revealed during his two-hour presentation that the ocean will play a role and is counted as one of the characters in “Moana.” Lasseter premiered a clip, which showed how the ocean “teased and tickled Moana, changing her hair style with a splash, before sending her back to land on a coconut husk.”

Moana” will also introduce the demigod named Maui (played by Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson), who will set sail with Moana in her journey into becoming a master wayfinder. The two will be battling against “enormous fiery creatures and impossible odds,” as they find friendship between each other and realize things about themselves.

“Moana” comes out in cinemas on Nov. 23, 2016.
