Disney has recently announced to its investors that 2015 has been a really profitable year, so far, financially. It has earned over 4 billion dollars at the box office this year. This is the third consecutive year that Disney has made that kind of profit and this time it has done it in a relatively shorter time; the fiscal year is yet to end. The investors are already celebrating over the news.
Disney, which is registered in the NYSE as DIS, is going to have a strong financial year this time. If the projections are to be believed, Disney will have a major hit by the end of December this year and its profit margin will exceed 4 billion dollars, which is a good news indeed for the investors.
The projected hit that Disney is banking on heavily is the much awaited Star Wars sequel, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Disney officials are already projecting a profit of over 650 million dollars from this movie alone – this is a conservative estimate. If they were to look at the optimistic projections at the box office, they would probably expect to make over 2 million dollars in domestic and international sale of tickets at the box office.
Financial magazine, “The Fool” reported that the Walt Disney Company has already earned over 800 million dollars from the animated hit, “Inside Out.” Their other hit Cinderella pulled in over 540 million dollars, while the big roller “Avengers: Age of Ultron” has already set records with earnings over 1.4 billion dollars.
The production house is looking forward to making similar profit in 2016 as well as 2017 when it will sell sequels to the big hits like Captain America, Finding Nemo, and the Guardians of the Galaxy on the box office. The studio has decided to be cautiously optimistic about the projections, but the investors are looking forward to three good years with the company.
