Christopher Walken and Giancarlo Esposito will lend their voice to Disney’s 3D live-action adaptation of the classical animation, “Jungle Book.” Read on for further details about the story.
According to Deadline, Disney’s adds Walken and Esposito in its voice cast for the upcoming 3D live-action adaptation of the classical animation, “Jungle Book.” Walken will provide the voice of King Louie, ruler of a troop of monkeys, while Giancarlo Esposito will voice Akela, leader of the wolf pack.
Walken is an actor who has made appearances in over 100 films and television shows such as “The Deer Hunter,” “Annie Hall,” “The Prophecy” trilogy, “The Dogs of War,” “A View to a Kill,” “True Romance,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Catch Me If You Can.” Walken has received a number of awards and nominations during the span of his career, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1978, with his films grossing more than $1 billion in the United States. Walken is also a screenwriter, a film director and has played lead roles in Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” “Macbeth,” “Romeo and Juliet” and “Coriolanus.”
Esposito is also an actor, a director and a producer. He is best known for his portrayal of Gustavo “Gus” Fring on the AMC hit series “Breaking Bad,” earning him the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama award at the 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Awards, and he was also nominated for an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards.
“Jungle Book” is Disney’s latest addition to its live-action/animation hybrid films and is based on a collection of stories by English author Rudyard Kipling. The plot follows Mowgli, a feral “man-cub” raised by wolves in the Indian jungle, as his friends, a panther named Bagheera and Baloo, a bear, try to convince him to leave the jungle before the man-eating bengal tiger, Shere Khan, arrives.
The live-action film adaptation is penned by Justin Marks and directed by Jon Favreau.
Idris Elba is cast as Shere Khan and Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o are to voice Kaa and Raksha respectively, while lead character, Mowgli, will be played by Neel Sethi.
