“Divergent,” releases the first official trailer for the upcoming sequel of the action-packed pic “The Divergent Series: Insurgent.” Read on for further details.
Entitled “Defy Reality,” the new trailer certainly seems to defy the laws of reality. The footage features Tris (Shailene Woodley) who is now sporting a shorter hairstyle. She was in what seems to be a post-apocalyptic city while she was rescuing her mother (Ashley Judd) from a burning flying building. While the entire scenario seems to be epic, it is most likely that this scene is occurring in Tris’ head as her mother has died in the previous pic. In "Divergent," the Dauntless uses a serum that brings the worst nightmares into life, and it suggests that her mother’s death may be a driving force of the character in the sequel.
“The Divergent Series: Insurgent” is the second installment and sequel to the “The Divergent Series," which is also based on the second installment of the book trilogy series. It is produced by Lucy Fisher, Pouya Shabazian and Douglas Wick from a screenplay by Brian Duffield and Akiva Goldsman. Robert Schwentke takes over Neil Burger as director, while Burger will serve as the executive producer of the film.
Insurgent follows the exploits of Tris Prior who tries to figure out the intention behind Erudite's insurrection as well as information the Abnegation are trying to protect. In Insurgent Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) must race against time as they try to figure out what Abnegation sacrificed their lives for to protect and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Hunted by Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet), the leader of the Erudite faction and haunted by her past choices, Tris faces one impossible challenge after another as she unlocks the truth about the past and ultimately the future of her world.
Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Jai Courtney, Ansel Elgort, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer and Kate Winslet will reprise their roles from "Divergent." Adding to the existing cast are Octavia Spencer, Naomi Watts, Suki Waterhouse, Rosa Salazar, Daniel Dae Kim, Jonny Weston, Emjay Anthony, and Keiynan Lonsdale.
“The Divergent Series: Insurgent” will hit the big screens on Mar. 20, 2015.
