“Divergent” star Shailene Woodley had denied to audition for “Fifty Shades” franchise long back, even before Dakota Johnson was hired for the project as a lead actress. Theo James’ “Divergent” co-star asked help from “Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence in making the decision!
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” film franchise would be even hotter with “Divergent” beauty, but she denied to even audition for the role. Woodley was offered the role of Anastasia Steel for “Fifty Shades of Grey,” but rejected the offer stating she is already signed on by another franchise.
Woodley told the Daily Beast via Gossip Cop, “It actually is true. I didn’t want to audition for it. It’s because I had already done “Divergent” and I knew there was no way I wanted to do multiple franchises at the same time because that’s crazy, so I didn’t see the point in it.”
But it does not end there, there is more news to it. In one of her interviews with Glamour UK via Teen.com, Woodley even expressed doubts over the whole idea of converting “Fifty Shades” novel into movie scripts.
Woodley said, “I’d read the book and thought, ‘If somebody really can pull this off and make a movie out of it, they will be the biggest genius!”
Well, looks like Woodley actually took the right decision to not be involved in two totally different franchise. The character of Tris in “Divergent” series is that of a strong female, whereas, character of Anastasia Steel from “Fifty Shades” franchise revolves around love only!
Meanwhile, “Divergent: Allegiant” is all set to release on Mar. 18, 2016. It is directed by Robert Schwentke and screenplay is based on Veronica Roth’s novel with extended screenplay by Noah Oppenheim, Adam Cooper, Bill Collage and, Stephen Chbosky.
Shailene Woodley will be seen playing the role of Tris and Theo James will be in lead as Four.
